Can a Blu Ray DVD player hook up to a normal DVD player? What is the difference between a Blu-Ray DVD player and a Blu-Ray HD DVD player?

I know a PS3 can and it has a Blu-ray player. I’m sure a traditional blu-ray player would work just fine as well, but it won’t look any better than a traditional DVD player. The Blu-Ray player plays traditional DVDs and Blu-Ray discs that are high-definition. Not sure but I’m betting some people call them blu-ray HD DVD player, but it could possibly be what they call a hybrid player that plays both blu-rays and the now defunct HD-DVD format. If it is one of the hybrid players I wouldn’t worry about the HD-DVD part unless you just want to buy the obsolete discs from used stores or something.
