Hey guys, been trying my hand at couchsurfing.com with pretty bad results so far. I’ll be up in SF 9/18 – 9/21, possibly sleeping at parks/alleyways/beaches but I thought I’d try my fluther luck…..Any night would help.
I’ll have a small guitar for any jamming/song madness…....I’ve got some herbs to burn if you’re down!
Thanks!

this prolly isnt one of the better sites to go to for burning “religious” herbs and the like
just sayin
I’m sorry, but, I can’t help you there.
Thanks for posting a link to that site, though. I might use it.
This sounds about as brilliant as picking up a hitch hiker.
There is a hostel at Ft Mason with your name on it.
@Judi I just checked out the website that he posted. It seems quite safe.
@jmah I think Judi is referring to letting a stranger from fluther stay at your house, as opposed to the couchsurfing website. I may be wrong though.
I think a hostel would be your best bet. You could always find a really cool neighborhood, and hang out in a coffee shop until someone lets you crash on their floor. I lived in a pretty hippy-ish town, and people were able to do this all the time.
Seriously though, you don’t have any friends that you could hit up?
The couchsurfing site does work very well for some, I hear (my son gave a good report of it after I pointed him there from here), but SF is a major destination city, so perhaps there are fewer options available.
Sorry, but just speaking personally, I think flutherfolk would have to feel they knew you a lot better as a long-time member with frequent posts before they’d be prepared to take a chance on you.
If you are alone, it might be hard. What we used to do is hang around the airport or bus station all night.
Maybe email some contact people from Bay Area organizations that are related to some of your interests? People may be more willing to accept someone who shares their interests and may know folks in common who can vouch for your acceptability.
There was also a hostel downtown that was pretty cheap (like $18/night). Just a quick search, but there are loads of hostels in SF.. the first on the page says they have beds from $19/night.
If you end up having to sleep outside, bring a sleeping bag or you probably will freeze your ass off.
