Would you take up smoking, or start again after quitting, if it was 100% harmless?
It still makes you feel the same way but with no harmful side effects. The same goes for second hand smoke as well.
For the record I have not had a cigarette in almost three years. Jonsblond is going on six years now.

I would. Hell, I took up smoking after 5yrs clean knowing it was 100% harmful.
They’ve told us it was harmless before. I’m still skeptical.
I would like it if the smoke would disappear after I exhaled, because I hate getting smoke in my eyes.
I probably would, given that it wasn’t unhealthy. But like @The_Compassionate_Heretic I would probably be too scared.
Although I am allergic to smoke, I have recently become fascinated with clove cigarettes.
If they were 100% harmless, I’d probably give them a try.
Oh, and, I’ve always loved the smell of pipe smoke, so I’d probably try that too.
“I’ll try anything once, twice if I like it, three times to make sure.”
Congrats on the no smoking to you both! I’m working on 5 years myself, but yes I would if it was harmless!
If it did not make everything smell and was totally completely harmless and non-addictive
I would take it up again. But that is too many “ifs”.
I’ve quit for 10 years.
Here’s the trick… there is no such thing as smoking only on the weekends.
Once you allow yourself an occasional cigarette, you’re done.
Wouldn’t do it… smokers are stinky.
I quit nearly 20 years ago. Yes, I probably would want to. I never stopped enjoying smoking; I just didn’t want to be a smoker and have all the health effects.
But I do dislike the smell of stale smoke on people, on clothes, in houses, and on everything that smokers touch. While we’re eliminating the effects, let’s get rid of that. I haven’t had that payoff myself in all this time because I’m the only nonsmoker in the house.
Well where’s the fun in that?
Absolutely not. And I’ve never smoked before.
@Jeruba talk about will power…I’ve stopped three times in my life each time for over a year more but the scent from other smokers in the house always draws me back. Plus I have this fond memory of a nutty woman I once met telling me it was her only pleasure in life.
@mponochie If she was nutty and smoking was her only pleasure in life, then her’s is not a good model to go by. Life sucks if the only thing you enjoy is completely self destructive.
I have never smoked and I never would start, even if it were 100% safe. Cigarette smoke sets off my asthma, which is no fun at all. In fact, that was what induced my husband to quit smoking twenty years ago. He had started smoking at age 9, back when people didn’t realize smoking was bad for you, and had gotten up to four packs a day for many years. He smoked for more than 35 years but when he had to listen to my asthma attacks, he decided it wasn’t worth it. He quit cold turkey in 1989 and hasn’t smoked since. He still misses smoking, but between my asthma, and his COPD and congestive heart failure, he isn’t going to start again.
Besides I hate the smell and that yellow film that gets deposited on every surface in the house.
I have never smoked because I see no real point in it. Furthermore, I wouldn’t want to perpetually smell like shit.
As a recent quitter, I wouldn’t do it. You said they weren’t bad for you, but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t stinky. And it definitely doesn’t mean that they aren’t addictive. I don’t want anything running my life but me.
I always say, if “they” decide it is not bad for your health, do not, I repeat DO NOT get between me and the nearest convenience store, because I will run you down on my way to buy a pack!
Never, ever, ever. It makes your hair, clothes & breath stink. Plus, look at the money you’re literally burning up. My husband stopped smoking cold turkey about 15 years ago. It was the best thing he’s ever done. Our daughter & her husband stopped years ago. We’re a smoke free family & I love it.
Waste of money and it smells horrible. That sums up smoking in 7 words.
