Not only dread, but maybe think is complicated, hard, you don’t like to do but know it needs done.
I’m thinking maybe by sharing here others might share there suggestions to make easier or eliminate or…
This could be things with chores, health, work, etc…

I hate unloading the dishwasher. Not complicated or hard, but annoying as hell.
Detangling my hair is a pretty daunting task. I have a lot of hair… My arms get tired.
@JLeslie I intended to put some examples and that was one of them. My only tip for that is that when putting the silverware in the tray sort all the spoons into one slot all the forks in one slot, etc… that way when you go to empty the dishwasher they’re already sorted and can just be put away.
Other examples would be laundry, sweeping the floor, cleaning the counters, etc…
I am very, very anxious about school. I am over-concerned about my GPA, I worry every day about homework, studying, exams, papers, etc.
Changing my sheets. My bed it in a corner, has a headboard and foot board, and is pretty tall. I have to climb on it to get the sheets around the part that is in the corner. The foot board makes it difficult to tuck in the sheets on the bottom.
It’s definitely not my favorite thing to do, but it must be done.
@pdworkin I’m wishing you smooth sailing with all of that. :-)
I HATE to dust! I’d rather take a beating than dust. I like it when it’s done, but doing it is a huge pain in the ass for me. I’d rather vacuum every day than have to dust.
I can’t stand doing dishes.
Getting my car inspected. I dread it because there is always something freaking wrong with any car I’ve owned.
Doing my tests. I get super anxious and worried, even if I end up doing well I still have a rush from it. I just hate time constraints and my tests are always timed.
Having the financial talk about how much my parents need to pay for my tuition every 3 months. My divorced parents who can only civilly communicate through email.
Looking for a job that is 1) flexible with my college schedule and 2) either close to campus or home (I’m a commuter) since I cannot drive due to physical limitations. I’ve had zero luck in over a year.
Load the dishwasher. It’s not the actual task I dread, but if I forget my mother will definitely make it be known. Not so pleasant.
Laundry. It is pretty simple and straight forward, but there are too many steps for my liking and without fail I get backed up somewhere along the line and lose my rhythm then I never get it back.
Right now, get up. It’s really hard with no job and a divorce, and losing having my kids around me full time.
A poem a day until they are all typed up.
Hate dumping the cat boxes. Hate putting away laundry. Hate having my period.
@knitfroggy I used to hate the cat litter until I switched to silica gel pearls. You can get them generically on line, because they are expensive in the pet stores.
Take out trash and clean the bathroom. Yech to both of them. Being a germophobe makes it worse.
Picking up my dog’s poops from the backyard
Plucking my eyebrows
Laundry- most of my clothing doesn’t go in the dryer and I hate finding places to lay things out or hang them from
Cleaning my bathroom- specifically the floor, chasing after hair strands and dust bunnies.
@PnL I can’t stand cleaning the tub. I don’t know why.
@hungryhungryhortence Ahh, getting my eyebrows done is such a necessary evil lol
A few more:
Changing the cat litter.
Picking up dog poop.
As far as cleaning (my apartment), I enjoy it. lurve to clean! I get my eyebrows waxed professionally. If I were to do it myself, I’d probably end up looking like the Count!
@Allie I have a platform bed, and it is difficult to tuck in the corners, especially as a get weaker, lifting that mattress sucks.
@casheroo I can’t stand washing pots and pans, the dishes I just throw in the dishwasher (which I hate to unload). If I could get a maid to come every night from 7–8 and just clean up the kitchen after we were done eating I would be so happy.
@casheroo: I’d love to find a local threader to keep up on my brows because waxing makes my skin dry and peel which looks absolutely awful.
@knitfroggy: farking hilarious Bert Brows!
@hungryhungryhortence electrolisis usually works very well on eyebrows. I had my done when I was 19, and then recently again in my late 30’s, I wish I had done it the second time sooner. It is much cheaper than waxing or threading all of the time. I only pluck a little.
@JLeslie: I love the idea of electrolysis but have so far shied away because I have pigmented/freckled skin that scars like mad.
@knitfroggy @jmah I bought a litter maid mega from Ebay (about 50% off) about 5 years ago and absolutely love it. I empty mine once a week on trash day, piece of cake.
@hungryhungryhortence When you say pigmented do you mean dark? I have never heard that the color of someones skin matters for electrolysis? It does matter for laser, but you can’t laser your eyebrows.
@JLeslie: I’ve had laser on my face, they put little shields on your eyeballs in some places and tiny goggles in others. My skin is light olive but very freckled, the laser actually faded my freckles which I didn’t want to happen. I’ll check out electrolysis for the lady bits.
I don’t mind doing the laundry, but I hate emptying the drier and sorting and folding everything.
I hate doing the dishes. I used to hate taking the dishes out of the dishwasher, but then it broke. Now I just hate washing them.
I hate washing the dogs. They don’t like it much, either.
I don’t mind changing the cat box, but I hate picking up dog poop.
I hate paying bills so I try to pay as many as I can online.
Dusting sucks because it is pointless. Actually, any kind of cleaning is pretty pointless. Between a pack rat husband, several large dogs, and a destructive bipolar son a clean space in the house typically lasts all of 10 minutes.
Grocery Shopping, laundry, dishes, sweeping hard floors, wet cleaning floors, cleaning bathtubs, giving the kids a bath. I’m sure I’ll think of more.
I almost forgot: making my son take his meds three times a day. I really, really dread that. He admits they make him feel better once they have kicked in, but before then it is outright war, and he is the aggressor.
@Darwin Ugh, I know that must be such a PITA. My parents did that for me. Twice a day only. When a teen/young adult thinks they know best, it takes the world to convince them otherwise. I was never physically aggressive, so my heart is with you.
@hungryhungryhortence hmmm, the scarring, I can understand. Electrolysis is just a pin prick, so I would think scarring is not likely? I am very fair skinned, but I do have a few keloid scars from removng some things. I have never had trouble with electrolysis, except once I think it was a little too hot on my belly, and left 2 or 3 pin red marks for a few months, but no scars ever. About the lady bits, I tried electrolysis when I was in my late teens, and it did almost nothing, such a high growth area. I would have had to do it 20 times. I recently did my panty line with laser. Special laser that is not painful, you have to go about 6 times to really see the result. It was GREAT! I have several hairs I will clean up with electrolysis now that I am down to so few. Be careful though, because I have two girlfriends who got it done and it was very painful, they must have used a different laser.
I hate grocery shopping, mainly because I have to take the bus to do it. (I don’t mind taking the bus, it’s just the whole, transfer-thing, and waiting for a bus, and carrying all your groceries in a backpack/tote, etc.)
Dishes are awful, as well. I agree with everyone! I don’t have a dishwasher (#$%! old apartment) and have to wash everything by hand. Sucks because I’d love to do more baking/cooking, but won’t because of clean-up.
@evegrimm – The answer is paper plates. Bad for the trees, but good for dishpan hands.
@evegrimm It took me a lot of years to come to terms with having to wash dishes. I finally just learned to suck it up and do it. It’s still not my favorite thing to do, but I’m used to it. I hate the laundry. Ugh.
@Darwin, I’ve never heard of baking bread on paper plates! :D
In our household I am supposed to cook, and Vicky is supposed to do the cleanup, but I can never let her do it all herself. I’m a wuss.
Oh dear, @Darwin, you’re an enabler!
I hate going to the “beauty parlor” and getting my hair colored and cut. I feel like it is an hour and a half of “dumbening” (in Lisa Simpson’s words) time once a month. But I do like having my hair look good so I put up with it. I usually bring a book with me so I can read while the color is taking, but I still hate being there.
@janbb Now that is odd. I would think most people would enjoy that time.
@janbb, I feel the same way! However, I have avoided “beauty parlors” for the past year+ and just deal with my hair as-is. (I would much rather be sleeping or baking or knitting or something.)
Laundry, I effing hate it
I’ve been avoiding the salon too, but only cuz it’s so damn expensive
@pdworkin – It was the opposite in our house. But when I did cook I always helped to. Now, while I am very tense about cooking because I suck and it stresses me out, I am psyched because I am much more economical and efficient when I do cook. I clean up as I go and such.
@Bri_L I know just what you are going through. That’s how I learned to cook! You are going to have a tough time for a while. I’m glad you are finding ways to help yourself feel better.
@pdworkin – Oh thanks. I am actually going to use that. I am going to take a class. That way I get out of the apartment. I meet people and learn how to fricken cook.
@Bri_L: Don’t worry! No one was born knowing how to cook! Taking a class sounds great! I took a few a while back, and I have to say, they are the most fun you’ll ever have in anything with the word “class” in it. It’s all about the eating.
My personal trick for learning (Really Learning) how to cook – I worked my way through Julia Child. Just like the girl in the movie. Now i can cook or bake anything.
Hehe.
It’s just one of those things. I can fix stuff that I have never been taught to fix. Mowers, Hot water heaters, Dishwashers. I can do almost anything with computers pc or mac. But cell phones and cooking are two things I just AAARRGGHGHGHGH about.
I love doing laundry and doing the dishes. It relaxes and calms me.
Dusting sucks, and getting on the treadmill for my ½ hour routine is death!

Vacuuming
Dusting
Paying bills

Endocrinologist visits and lab work every 3 months

I hate taking my son to his monthly therapist appointments. It’s like an hour of the therapist asking questions and my son not knowing how to answer. My son hates it too.
Drive, laundry, visit people whose company I don’t enjoy, dishes. take the garbage out, grocery shopping, pay rent, other bills, etc..
I hate pairing socks. I know for sure I have all the matching socks in the washer, but when I go to take them out of the dryer, their not all there. I think the sock gnome has something to do with it.
@knitfroggy If for some reason these therapy appts are mandated, change therapists at least.
@JLeslie and @janbb The therapy is not mandated at all. My husband and I choose to send him. He has some behavior issues at times and even though we all hate going, it has helped his behavior a lot, it seems…so we keep plugging along.
@knitfroggy I see. Are you in the seesion with him? Maybe he needs to be alone with the therapist if you have been in the room.
Well, if it’s helped his behavior a lot, it’s worth sticking with. As JLeslie has suggested, you could change therapists if you feel there might be one you could work with better. It isn’t easy taking kids for therapy but it can be of use.
homework and drying my hair.
i hate blowdrying my hair.
but if i don’t. well. yuck.
Showering. Honestly, I think I was a cat in my past life. I just hate getting wet.
Getting up at 6 am three days a week to take my husband to dialysis, then coming home to medicate my son, convince him to get dressed, and put him on the bus. This is followed by returning to pick up my husband and being yelled at by the “special bus” driver who seems to feel that she has the only disabled passengers to pick up and so makes my husband either have to sit there and wait for her two passengers or very painfully make his way across the parking lot.
There is enough space for four vehicles in front of the door, including that bus. Next time I am blocking her in and “losing” my keys.
