I’m a frequent runner and I usually eat 60 to 90 minutes before I run. This ensures that I won’t cramp up from food still trying to digest in my system. Additionally, I try to eat foods that have a decent carbohydrate content so I get the maximum amount of energy benefit from what I’ve eaten.

About one hour, so you don’t get cramps. That’s also how long it takes for the food to digest into your system and give you energy.
First of all, you should be loading up on carbs many days before to load up your muscle and liver gylcogen storages which give you energy. Not consuming enough carbs in the days before a run, can diminish your energy during the run. You can actuallly consume a high carbohydrate type of grain bar 20 mins. before a run. Sports drinks are ideal as well. Consuming pasta 2 hours before is sufficient
i agree (: an hour or more will give you time.
Depending on what, and how much, I eat determines how far in advance I’ll eat. For me, I eat one-to-three hours prior to a long run.
