How do I change the clock on 2004 BMW Z4?

Asked by rjmartino (2points) September 24th, 2009

My clock is (and has been) 1 hour off since the last day light savings change…. How do I change the time? Or, where can I get a manual?

Read the manual

Manuals come with the car. Unless it is stolen of course. The BMW requires very exacting servicing requirement and always has a log and a comprehensive owner’s manual. Failing that, just cycle through the menu until you come to “Clock”.

It could also be under radio instructions/settings too.

I am talking about the BMW’s on-board computer menu. They have had them since the eighties.

My apologies, I am not fammiliar with BMW’s, or any cars for that matter, I was simply speaking in logic.

Sure – no problem. The BMWs have all variable settings controlled by the on-board computer. Clock, trip computer, various service options, climate control, radio etc.

I have a 5 Series M. I mostly drive a beat up twenty year old convertible Capri (Mercury) though – I love it. I can park it anywhere and not worry about it. (And it is always sunny here – seldom need to put the top up.)

Call a BMW service dept. and ask to speak to a service advisor, they’ll walk you through if you have no manual to consult.

They will ask for the car’s registration number and your name. If it doesn’t come up on their computer they won’t help. Most legitimate owners have the service manuals.

@DarkScribe: I’ve been in the car business over a decade and I’ll figure less than 5% of buyers ever read more than a few pages of their manuals. When purchasing a pre owned car, there might not be a manual anymore. You are correct for codes though, they’ll ask for the VIN# and name of person on the registration/title.
