Are bugaboo strollers worth the money, and is it sensible to get one on ebay?

My wife is due to have our baby in January, and so I am shopping for the gear! Now, I am not made of money, and so I want to be careful to get good value while not scrimping and then I can put anything spare in the college fund, or alternatively buy some beer! Bugaboo strollers seem like the best on the market, but they are really expensive, should I get a cheaper one, should I get one second hand or should I bite the bullet and get the best brand new?

My daughter has a Graco (bentwood) travel system, and she is very happy with it. Sorry I don’t know much about the bugaboos. I think it’s worth the money to get a new one . It’s something you will use a lot.
My goodness they are expensive…
If you are planning on having more kids then investing a good pram is worth it because you can use it again, these look like they will date pretty quickly though.
We had a mamas and papas pram it lasted for my daughter, my niece and has now gone to another good home :)
If you live in the UK Mothercare do a good range and I think Tesco do as well… I suppose the question is what do you want from your pram, to look good? to keep your baby safe and warm? To keep long term for future bundles of joy? All the above??
I have a bugaboo gecko – it was about $900 when I got it in 2006 and it is well worth it – it is an amazing stroller, very easy to maneuver with one hand and has survived both my kids – as for getting it on eBay – eh, I don’t know abou that
I’m not a fan of the Bugaboo. I’ve only used one model and I can’t remember the name of it, so @Simone_De_Beauvoir might have experience with a different model.
I don’t think there’s enough pockets and under the seat storage. It also doesn’t provide nearly enough shade for the passenger.
It is cute and folds nicely though.
edit: and Congrats! :)
If you plan on having kids in the future, you should definitely go with something high end. I’d recommend something like a Chicco though. Bugaboo isn’t the best rated out there at all. You’re just paying for brand recognition.
Go for a travel system, not just a stroller.
High end strollers can be resold very well if you keep them clean so it’s almost a better investment if you know you’re not keeping it.
I have 4 kids and wife is pregnant right now :D
