Why do calendars still print the phases of the moon each month?

Is this an outdated thing that calendar publishers just do out of habit or is there still a relevant reason for doing so? The only other information that comes printed in calendars are holidays, which makes sense each month and week-to-week. I can’t say I (or anyone I know) have ever needed the phases of the moon.

Some people just like to know. Isn’t that reason enough?
Farmers, sailors, astrologers, photographers, etc., all might have an interest in moon phases.
I understand that some people might like the info, but it just seems like a very specific thing to add to a calendar. Holidays are of interest to everyone. Moon phases seem to only interest a subset of people. So my question is still – why, of all the info you could include in a calendar, did we choose moon phases of all things?
Phases of the moon make people act in different ways. Easy enough to find statistical studies to back this up. Plus, as DarkScribe said, the phases of the moon are important for many people, not just a “subset” as you call them. I think the research and marketing divisions of the calendar companies would be the best folks to answer this question, though. Or, put it this way – they think it is important to have them on a calendar and they want to sell as many calendars as possible. As for holidays, I’m less interested in holidays than moon phases.
I like to know. They do it for me.
