i’m looking for a job and am interested in many things, but can’t figure out one to focus on and really go for. would like to work at a small firm/company and be responsible for multiple types of tasks and be active/running around for at least part of the day. i enjoy working with my hands and creating things, out of any material, wood, cloth, etc., though i’m not an expert in any of them. i am good at coordinating things/events and enjoy working with people, especially to solve problems. any suggestions?

Honestly I believe the best way to find ones calling is to go to college and try things out. Assuming you already did or it’s not for you and I were to throw out an idea, I would suggest you be a baker/wedding planar. My family owns a bakery and my mom loves to bake especially wedding cakes. Wedding cakes bring in big bucks and you can be super creative with them. Also, it feels great when some soon-to-be bride comes in all excited and you can make her even happier with your imagination of her ideal cake.
Also, I know to be a wedding planer you don’t need any special certificates or anything and you can bundle it with you cake making (my mom didn’t take a course so if you haven’t just trial and error for awhile like she did before you set off on your own).
Also, you’ll be the brides wing-man/women so you wont be cooped up in some office, you’ll be able to check out all these cool resorts and locations weddings will be held in and even be invited to lots of weddings (fun).
It might or might not be for you but assuming you liked the idea it sound from your description that it (or something similar) would be right up your alley and you’d be great at it.
that’s a great suggestion! i like to bake and i love planning events. planning weddings could b a little scary b/c brides/grooms can get a little nutty, but you’re right….when you do it right theyll be so happy :)
There are different types of wedding planers that do different levels of planning. I know some just help schedule the event and contract good photographers or bakers to help out, but on the other hand after some experience and if your up to it I know there are some that go all out and help from the first thought to the final “I do”.
But I know what you mean, brides can get a little (understatement) nutty haha
Imagine your totally ideal day. What would you be doing? Go nuts. Write down what comes to your mind and truly excites you. That would probably be a good starting point. Credit for this idea goes to Barbara Sher’s book Wishcraft.
thanks all fr your input :) @patg7590 – want is one thing, need to pay the bills is another ;)
You’re confused my friend… What you want is money.
hardly the same thing
i don’t want money, i need money. thanks
By experience. 99.9 % of the time the job you have is not what you want. When you don’t have to ask this question, you will have found your job changed to your passion. Follow the latter, and you will also have your answer.
