Myself, I Googled ’ Inspirational Speakers’ some months ago and came upon the name of Biz Stone, one of the founders of Twitter. It seems that he was giving a talk here in the UK. Well I just happened to notice that he had something to do with something called Fluther, and so I decided to investigate…...

I went looking for an better question and answer site after yahoo answers got very spammy, and askville got all jesus-y.
The q&a site I used to be a member of was rated 2nd best just behind fluther, a few months later my old site went under so I came here.
I used to use wis.dm before it closed which is where I learnt of Fluther.
No offence to any life long wis.dm fans but Fluther is a cajillion times better!
@Leanne1986 it gets better as more wis.dm features trickle in.
After a day with no sleep and no black coffee, I woke up seeing this site on my MacBook Pro. So I thought I’d check it out.
Googling question about a relationship bump. Loved the concept and I’ve been hooked ever since. I love reading questions and the unique views and answers people give.
I was taking an inspirational journey with the buddist monks of the himmilayas when I woke up one night. I was guided by something I could not see, up to tge top of a mountain. There, the wind and snow stopped, and all was silent. Then, a beam of light descended from the heavens, casting it’s pristing warmth over me. I saw a vision of water and tentacles. I dove into the water, and saw thousands of jellyfish, as far asthe eye could see. I then knew about the legend of fluther, and descended the mountain.
That was actually kind of neat about the top of the mountain and all. You may have a career waiting for you in creative writing.
My own answer is so much more quotidian by comparison. I discovered Fluther in the App store.
And then realized that it works much better on a Safari page because the App limits so many capabilities. Oh well…
Jayne had been telling me about it for months, so eventually I gave in and joined.
I’d say it was a good decision
I did not discover it, I uncovered it by accident from a typo in google. I was searching for flutter as in birds. I am an amateur bird watcher.
Fluther was featured in Maclife about a year and a half ago. Once ensnared in the lurving tentacles of Dr.J I no longer could leave- not that I ever tried.
Augustlan found me on Facebook (we went to the same high school) and she saw some of my status updates and suggested I check out Fluther.
it was a random event, or was it?
I just have a knack for finding cool shit.
I stumbled upon Fluther while searching for suggestions on how to help heal a broken heart.
I googled an embarrassing question, and was gently ushered to this wonderful site.
I was an Askville refugee. I heard there was a mass exodus here. It’s much better.
I was googling for music suggestions and came across a Fluther question, from there– natural attraction. It was love at first sight, er site.
My brother-in-law got the Fluther iphone app and turned me on to it.
I did a google search about Jamie Lee Curtis being a hermaphrodite and the first thing that popped up was a fluther question. I was hooked ever since!
I followed people here from Askville. Life is better with Fluther in it.
I was doing a Google search cannot remember what for now? and discovered Fluther. Serendipity at its best!
@Adagio I only remember what I was googling because it was probably one of the weirdest things I ever googled. I was looking for pictures of Jamie Lee Curtis to take to my hair stylist to get it cut like hers and came upon rumors that she was a hermaphrodite. Then when I typed in “Jamie Lee Curtis Hermaphrodite” Fluther popped up. I lurved it!
I wish I could take credit for “discovering” fluther. Alas, I had nothing to do with it. When Askville went down the tubes, a bunch of people mentioned fluther. I came, I saw, I stayed.
Most of my Askville friends were joining Fluther— Askville was a excellent, diverse community. Any sane website hosts would want what we had. Even flame-war dezeins would be helpful or there for one another in times of need.
But the mods of Askville wanted simple, direct questions and did everything they could to prevent us from dialogue—the final blow, before everyone lost interest, was they moved all dialogue to a “discussion board”—which was hard to find. Most of our questions stimulated discussion and conversation and helped opposite sides of an issue relate to one another and understand one another.
Other strange things happened on Askville, For instance, they started paying foreigners in unknown lands to pose ill-written, incomprehensible questions. Trolls were allowed to triumph and others got strikes that would delete legitimate responses (kind of like IMDb). But it was the eventual removal of conversation to “discussion boards” that made must of us give up, and Askville had to shut down the site for lack of interest.
Most of my Askville friends told me to find them on Fluther,
