Not to me, it’s a natural thing that grew on this earth right?
If you have to ask then I’m sure you already know the answer.
No, but it’s a sin to be a troll. Isn’t there a cap for how many questions you can ask in a day?
I don’t think there are any sins. I think there are bad behaviors. I define good behaviors as arranging your life to do the least amount of harm to others, and the greatest amount of good for people you know (and sometimes people you don’t know.)
Masturbating, and smoking pot, and looking at pornography (other than pedophilic pornography, or a form of pornography where someone or something was hurt during its production) are not sins, but fully normative acts.
if I already knew the answer, do you think I would be looking for an answer? You should already know the answer to that..
Smoking weed is mandatory.
@Tink1113 you know that asbestos, mold, and mildew are natural things, right?
and heroine, cyanide, etc
Are asbestos, mold, cyanide and heroin inherently sinful?
@pdworkin No one’s saying that those things are sinful or that they have any moral meaning whatever. I just wanted to point out that natural things are not necessarily good for you. Same applies to pot. Smoking pot isn’t sinful but it’s counterproductive and illegal!. If you need a reason to avoid smoking pot, let that be your reason.
@holden . . .I don’t recall being at the meeting where pot was universally deemed as “Counterproductive”.
I also don’t remember being allowed to cast a vote as to whether or not it should be illegal for me to choose what I do to my own body.
OP seemed to be concerned about sin. The question he or she asked was “Is it a sin to smoke weed?”
Have I misunderstood something?
Only if you also eat meat on Friday, too. That combo will get you right into Satan’s Wall Of Flame.
If you think it is, then it is. When I was a member of a Christian community it was considered to be a sin. Then again, so was everything fun. :(
Depends on who you ask. I assume the biblical definition of “sin” does not include smoking marijuana, but “the church” might have opinions about it anyway, and I figure they might not be all for it, give the church’s conservatism in general.
We first have to agree upon what a “sin” is to determine this.
Genesis 1:12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
Actually, He said “Ki Tov”.
Depends on your definition of a sin.
Some people think breaking the law is a sin.
Some people think altering mental states through substances is a sin.
Some people think it’s a sin that altering your mental state through a substance is illegal.
Do you really think any of us could have the final, absolutely correct yes or no answer to this?
If it doesn’t hurt you ( which it doesn’t) and it doesn’t hurt anyone else (which it doesn’t) and it can help people with horrible diseases live longer and better (which it does) why is it bad? It’s not.
Smoking weed—unlike wearing polyester, working on Saturdays, and women speaking in church—is not outlawed in the Bible.
I’m not sure the Bible has anything to say about it. If there were a god, pot would be it’s gift to the world.
If one of my pipes were suddenly to fill with that sticky, fuzzy, colorful vegetation we call marijuana, be it by a god, a friend, or even (shudders) my own hand, why I believe it would be a sin not to smoke it. Hey, look at that! Who has a lighter? See ya….Gary/wtf
@younganny: Your soul is your own responsibility. If someone else tells you it’s not a sin, and it is, you’re still on the hook for it. You have to figure out for yourself if it’s a sin.
