Is this a paid job, and how to potentially become one?

Read the Guidelines, and scroll down to where it says ‘How does Moderation work?’. There is a list, and they are volunteers.
The moderators are members of the community who spend more time here than they should. They are highly paid in the valuable currency of “lurve”.
The who’s and details of the Fluther moderators can be found here
Since you now know it’s not a paid position, are you still interested in how to become one?
Well, I’ll tell you how I became one then…
I spent way too much time here, asking and (mostly) answering questions. Andrew (co-founder of the site) asked me to become a mod. I said yes. :)
@augustlan I would ask the same in place of Andrew :)
That’s a nice site, by the way, so it’s no wonder for me that you agreed.
P.S. Did you get a JellyShirt?
…those who spend more time on here than they should…
Maybe I should apply
I got a shirt. But I am a lowly mod of the bastard chatroom.
My shirt was a size too small.
@XOIIO I’m going around giving you GA lurve for all your posts to boost your lurve quotient to enable you to become a mod.
;-)
@alex2 Sent to a friend who wears a medium sized t shirt.
Yes, the mods get a Jelly shirt for free. :D
@alex2 Stick around, kid… you just might make it big one of these days. ;-)
@augustlan how long were you here before you were asked to be a mod? Id love to join the group of mods!
@XOIIO :: It is like looking for a girlfriend. Looking desperate will never get you laid.
LOL @johnpowell.
I’m just putting it out there, now I’ll shut up
My Fluther t has a permanent grease stain, so if you the founders are in the market for a new mod…
They are a crack commando unit that were sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit. These mods promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the San Francisco underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as moderators of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire… The F-Team.
@XOIIO I honestly don’t remember how long I’d been a member before I became a mod. Seems like I’ve always been one!
@johnpowell might gripe about being a “lowly mod of the bastard chatroom”.... but he’s the most hepful person on there and will go out of his way to solve any problems (technical or otherwise) and make everyone feel included. There is another chat mod (tall, dark, handsome… impossibly witty) but he has very very veyr limited mod power in the chat room. He is however there for love of the site and wouldn’t have it any other way.
(I know.. sounds like a great guy… trust me.. deep down he’s something or other blah blah blah blah).
