What dual-layer DVDs should I use with my Early 2008 MacBook Pro to back-up data?

I have read a lot of comments on how certain DVDs wouldn’t work with X,Y, and Z burners or other hardware configurations, and since DL DVDs cost 50 dollars, I want to make an informed decision before I buy.
Does anyone know what DVDs would work with an Early 2008 Mac?
