What's your favorite recipe using ground beef?

Asked by La_chica_gomela (12594points) September 27th, 2009

I feel like there are so many ways to use it in recipes, but I can’t seem to think of or find any outside the boring meatballs, hamburgers, meatloaf—what’s your “different” recipe? Or please share your favorite, regardless!

Shepherd’s pie – Brown ground meat with sauteed onions and garlic. Add peas and cooked carrots and mushrooms, canned tomatoes and/or tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce. Put in a casserole, top with mashed potatoes, put lines in them with a fork and run under the broiler for a few minutes until a little browned. Delicious!

Shepherd’s pie.. ha. ^^^

I put onions, peas, rosemary, and salt and pepper in the beef. Bit of sour cream and/or a bit of garlic for the mash on top.

The name is disgusting but that is my grandmother for you…“slop.” Its a system of layering and it is truly a comfort food meal. Mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, gravy with ground beef in it to top it off. It is delicious and the one meal I remember from my childhood. I used to hate it when I was younger until I tried it

Why did I get this in my “Questions For You”?

Shepherd’s Pie, Chili, Tamale Pie, Spaghetti Bolognese, etc.

Those are all things my parents make, but I’m sure I could make them too. And of course, I love Hamburger Helper. :P

Enchiladas. I’ll refrain from posting my recipe here because it’s long, but if you want it, just ask! They’re warm, flaky, and delicious.

@Darwin: Those both look SOOO good!! I’ve been craving empanadas so bad ever since I got back from Argentina!

Tacos are yummy!

Meatballs are good if made the right way.

Lasagna, of course.

Chili in the crockpot is super easy.

Sorry I don’t have more for you…I’m mostly veggie!

I love shepherd’s pie, meatloaf and spaghetti bolognese.

But I won’t buy already ground hamburger meat, you have no idea what went into that grinder. I buy the cheaper cuts of beef and grind my own, then I know how much fat goes in and I know nothing was picked up off the slaughterhouse floor and added to the mix. No e coli for me!

Back when I used to eat meat, I loved making picadillo.

Add 200 grams of fried ground beef to my lasagna recipe. That’s my favourite recipe.

I make Cuban meat pies-that are similar to empanadas except, no olive, cottage cheese or hardboiled egg. I use diced potatoes, carrots, peas. For the crust, I use puff pastry.

I also make homemade beef ravioli that’s pretty tasty. Also stuffed shells, with ground beef and spinach.

Stuffed anything: zucchini. onions, peppers, tomatoes
Spaghetti sauce
Tacos (hard shell please)
I could throw any of the above together but have no recipes….I like being on the eating end of the process.
See ya….Gary/wtf

Makeshift ‘Mexican’ dishes

Sloppy Joes

Mix some in with eggs while frying for a nice breakfast dish (and maybe a sandwich with toast).

Mix in with mac & cheese (HELL YES!!!)

Beef Stroganoff -you are really not supposed to use ground beef but I do and I love it. It’s very quick and easy that way.
