Looking for a middle name that goes with Jodi, for a female?
My friend and her husband have been going back and forth over baby names forEVER… he wants traditional, and she does not. They finally agreed on Jodi.. it’s unusual enough for her but not wacky enough for him to dislike it. Problem is, the only middle name they’ve come up with is Lynn and they both hate it. Any suggestions?

Marie
Noelle
Renee
Seline
Jodi Lynn has a nice sound to it.
Anne, Renee, Catherine, Noelle, May
Rufus.
Jodi Lee, Jodi Foster, and there is the ever popular Anne.
My middle name is Anne
Jodi Lyla Wabeck
Jodi Anastasia Wabeck
Jodi Eloisa Wabeck
Jodi Elizabeth Wabeck
I think Jodi Wabek sounds good without a middle name.
I like Jodi May out of all the contributions so far.
They could always use the name of a loved one to honor them if they are from a culture that allows that.
Avoid names that start with A & E or expect unwanted nicknames and teasing.
Okay now they’re tossing around Elise as a first name… suggestions?
Lynn is the most obvious. I like Renee a lot and Marie.
@DrBill is correct, you don’t want JAW or JEW.
Oh, Elise…hmmm???
I still like Renee. Nicole?
@poofandmook I have a friend named Elyse and love it. Don’t know her middle name though. How about Elise Lee , not very fun but it sounds good together. hehe
the problem they’re finding is that since Elise doesn’t end in a vowel sound, lots of names sound clumsy.
Elise Michelle
Elise Nicole
Elise Lauren (like Ralph Lauren)
Elise Marielle
Elise Adrienne
oh.. and… when my boyfriend and I get married, my initials will be JAW. :P LOL
Middle names starting with vowels are always dangerous. Unless you mean A is your maiden name and you will be moving it to the middle?
Elise Katrina
Elise (this one’s hard)
@JLeslie I think middle names starting with a vowel can be tricky as well!
I like Jodi Renee, as @Allie suggested.
With Elise, I like Elise Sophia or Elise Daniella
This is difficult for me, I tend to like more unique names and not traditional.
@casheroo: My friend does too. But baby names have to be a compromise and he likes traditional.
@poofandmook One of my kids has a very ‘normal’ first name, combined with a very unique middle name: Jessica Yorke. That’s a route they could take, too.
Jodi Sue sounds cute to me.
Jodi Regina
Jodi Ruth
Jodi Renee
For something “NEW”, how about:
Nancy Elise Wabeck
Nicolle Elise Wabeck
Nicolette Elise Wabeck
Jodi Rose came to my mind first… I also like Jodi Beth. I like the two syllable Jodi with a one syllable middle name… I always think names sound better when the first and middle name don’t have the same number of syllables. They flow better. Even Jodi Christina would be nice, although with Wabeck it gets to be a mouthful!
I’m having trouble with Elise… to me it sounds better with just a middle initial than with a whole name. Like Elise M. Wabeck. And you could even just make that her name – Elise Em Wabeck. Kind of cute.
Or, make it a website, “WWW”:
Wanda Wheatley Wabeck
Wendy Whitley (or Whitney) Wabeck
Wynona Wynne Wabeck (I like this one)
See ya….Gary/wtf
Of course, I also like:
Wanda Whatthefluther Wabeck
OK, I’m out of here….Gary/wtf
I probably should not say this. I like Joni better than Jodi. My girlfriend named her daughter Joni.
I like Renee. What about using her mother’s maiden name as a middle name?
@JLeslie Ooh, I really like Joni, too. Hard to not immediately follow it with “Mitchell,” but I think most people wouldn’t think that automatically anymore.
@poofandmook I worked it out with my husband that we each get to name a child. I named our son (he did approve the name, and I knew he liked the middle name a lot) I told him he can name the next baby, regardless if it’s a boy or girl. We do have to agree on it, and although I’m not thrilled with the boy name, I’m going to respect that. Compromise doesn’t necessarily mean going all traditional. My son has a “normal” middle name, so if he wants to go by that he can when he is older.
I never met an Ann I didn’t like.
I never met a Judi I didn’t like.
Jodi Judi Wabeck.
@JLeslie Joni will be pronounced Yoni in many other languages than English. (Yoni has been claimed by the Kama Sutra)
Our personal choice would have been Eva Sophie for our daughter that ended up being boys.
I like Sopia therefore, it derives from wisdom (Greek), which in itself is a nice connotation the world could use more of. I also like Emma a lot, but as stated, one might better opt for a second name that starts with a consonant.
Elise Beatrice Wabeck
Elise Belle Wabeck
Elise Beth Wabeck
Elise Beatrice Wabeck
Elise Chantal Wabeck
Elise Claire Wabeck
Elise Emilie Wabeck
Elise Fiona Wabeck
Elise Fleurie Wabeck
Elise Gertrude Wabeck
Elise Josephine Wabeck
Elise Maria Wabeck
Elise Sophia Wabeck
I would go for Eva Sophie Wabeck, but… well… that’s just me.
Sophie Wabeck is a really great name
Has anyone else noticed that @poofandmook‘s last name keeps getting misspelled?
@frostgiant You’re quite right… We all just generously threw in an extra c.
@whitenoise I did not know that. I only suggested Joni, because they are seriously considered Jodi, and I just prefer the n in the name, sounds softer to me. I have that J problem in my family. My husband’s parents do not speak English (well his father speaks broken English, but learned it so late in life he cannot pronounce certain sounds well like the J sound in Jennifer or G in George, along with the English sound of ‘th’ is difficult). When my husband and I discussed names for a baby one that I liked was Julia, which they would say hoo-lee-a or if they try Julia it is never quite right. Plus, add in that my husband perceives/associates certain names different than I do.
For Jodi:
Jodi Renee
Jodi Ann
Jodi Therese
Jodi Patrice
Jodi Lee
Jodi Leigh
For Elise:
Elise Marie
Elise Chantelle
Elise Renee
Elise Donya
But that’s just me. :)
I prefer Elise to Jodi, because Jodi (to me) is extremely dated and screams 1970s, while Elise is more classic and not really date-stamped.
Going with Elise, I like:
Elise Danielle
Elise Abigail
Elise Madeline
Elise Katherine
Elise Jacqueline
Elise Sophia
Lynn was the first name that popped in my head! Jean maybe? Or Lorraine! Yeah I like Jodi Lorraine!
Elizabeth is nice. If she didn’t like Jodi she could go by Liz, Libby, liza, Betsy, Betty, Bet, Bee Bee, ..... She would have a bunch of names to choose from!!
Wait a minute! What about Jodi Elise?
@Zen – Jodi May is nice. Way up near the top of the thread, RedPowerLady mentioned it.
@tedibear39 @Zen
Don’t be giving her JEW as her initials, that would be wrong on so many levels.
Even if she is Jewish, kids can be mean and they would torment or tease her about it.
I like Jodi May but spell it Jodi Mae
Jodi Rose
Jodi Lou
Jodi Rae
Jodi Blue
Jodi Faye
I’d try to stick to one syllable names!
@sakura – I like Jodi Rae.
@DrBill – Kids will make fun of any name. Although I will agree that it’s better to not just hand them the ammunition!
@teddibear39 Thanks me too!
Do we have a final name yet??
They abandoned Jodi… lol… their two choices are
Sadie Elise and Alice Noelle
Judi is sad they abandoned Jodi. I don’t know any Judi’s or Jodi;s younger than me. My Grand son is Jude though.
Hmmm. Not fond of Sadie or Alice. But Elise Noelle would be nice.
