My son-in-law bought a new LG Swift phone, he has a memory card for it, my question is "is there a way I could download music for him to listen to on his phone?

What kind of memory card? Is it a MicroSD card? If so you can purchase an adapter
and use a memory card reader to connect it to your computer. There, you can place music files onto the card, and when it is returned to the phone, the phone should let your son-in-law listen to those files.
