What do you think could get a hair-dye stain out of walls and shower curtains?

Asked by onesecondregrets (2591points) September 27th, 2009

I’m an intelligent human being.
I don’t know.
I dyed my hair and got some on one of the walls and it splattered on the curtains. I tried with regular cleaner but it won’t come out. Hmph.

I have two spots on my bathroom wall, can’t wait to see the answers :).

Hmm, have you tried Magic Erasers?

What color curtains? And what color and type of wall (wallpaper, paint – if paint what finish)?

I swear by RIT Super Stain remover for any cloth material and virtually any stain.

Depending on the type of wall, I would try Scrubbing Bubbles (test it in a hidden spot first though!).

I don’t know what color the curtains are, but no matter what you do – try peroxide, alcohol, and lastly bleach.

Have you tried CLR or Kaboom? There’s no stain I haven’t been able to get out with one or a combination of both. Read the labels to see if it’s safe for your surfaces.

Haha, glad I’m not the only one.
I just pulled this stunt today so I just tried the cleaners I have in my apartment.
No Magic Erasers here, haha.
The curtains are an off-white. The walls are a light brown. It’s a glossy finish to the walls.

One question, may fall under stupid…think hydrogen peroxide spray might help?

If that fails, I’m going with CLR or Kaboom then.

There are hair dye stains on the bathroom tiles, walls, and counters of the bathroom of my parents` house that I used years and years ago. I`m waiting to see if there`s an answer.

@onesecondregrets If your walls are just textured & painted drywall then those cleaners are too strong for it. If that’s the case you may be stuck stripping and refinishing the surface. I answered under the assumption that the walls were tile or a similar material.

I’m not going to read the other posts, because I can’t right now.
But if it’s manic panic, think that’s organic, hydrogen peroxide is good for that. Otherwise, there is your nail polish remover you may have. Be careful not to mix anything, guess.
