What date is generally the start date of the ski season in Tahoe?

Hard to say. It’s still pretty warm out this way. There are some ski resorts that will produce man-made snow around Thanksgiving, but others will just wait for the snow to fall. Which will hopefully be happening soon! I’m guessing sometime in November.
Thanksgiving, traditionally. It could be earlier or later, depending on the weather.
I think it’s El Nino this year, so plan for a great season! I don’t know how often Tahoe resorts open early, but usually Northstar and Boreal are generally the first to open, so keep a close watch on their websites or follow them on Twitter.
