Will Ellen Degeneres make a good judge on American Idol?

I don’t know that she has any ties, but but the vast majority of viewers don’t either. she clearly seems to enjoy music and, IMO, she will represent the opinions of the average viewer.

Yes, @Supacase. Sometimes those in the music industry have their faces so close to the object that it becomes distorted and blurry. Ellen could be a breath of fresh air. I’ll actually make a point to watch “Idol” this season. I’ll give it a chance, anyway.

She does love music, that’s for sure. If nothing else, she’ll be enthusiastic! And funny. Don’t forget the funny. :)

I love Ellen, but she was a guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance and I found her annoying.

She was funny but repetitive. She was enthusiastic but clearly had nothing constructive to say.

There were three judges on Idol all along; Why replace Paula Abdul at all (is Kara coming back)?

Well… my guess is that she will. Paula will be sadly missed all round I’m sure. Buy back Paula and trade Kara for Ellen. I don’t care if Kara knows a ton about the music industry, most of her voiced opinions seem personal. Ellen in, Paula in, Kara out.

I second that. Please get rid of Kara and bring back Paula. Yes, Paula can be weird, but nice and we all need some niceness now and then. Kara just seems to much in love with herself and she seems extremely shallow and stupid. She is just plain annoying.

Ellen is funny and I love her! She and Paula would make a great pair!
