I know that Skype is a site where you can talk to people over your computer and webcam. So..? How do you like it? Pros and Cons.

you dont talk/webcam via the website, its an program you download, add your contacts and then talk/cam through the program
I have used it for years now, I have many friends abroad I like to keep up with and its very useful for that..
It is a tiny bit glitchy, sometimes webcam feed will freeze or the call will hangup.
but overall the pros outway the cons. Its a good program.
It’s a great technology, but I never use it.
Love it. When you need to talk to someone in another country, it is absolutely the cheapest way, and really easy too, especially compared to using phone cards. Blegh.
It works great when it actually works. It’s just that the Linux version is kind of unstable. Never had any trouble with the Windows version though.
I use it, and other IM services, all the time. No so much the phone functionality tough. I much prefer to write over talk to people. I get annoyed when people insist talking on the phone rather than writing e-mails or IM – everything is much clearer and I get more time to think about what i say (write that is).
I use the chat and the video calling extensively to chat with people in my own city, in other cities and overseas. It’s fantastic.
When my brother was in St. Petersburg and Moscow, it rarely worked well. I think it’s limited by the internet connection of wherever you are using it. I’ve had better experiences connecting to people in South America. As broadband continues to grow worldwide, I expect the service to get better.
@drdoombot It has little to do with Skype, it’s about their internet connection. My brother lives in Moscow and I chat with him often and with no issues.
I didn’t have a problem when I used it one time. Iwo sounded like a robot. Allie sounded like a girl. Rich sounded like a skinny sex machine. PnL sounded good too.
I am forgetting people.. sorry
I’ve only ever experienced Skype when a friend was using it. It’s okay.
I use video chat on Google.
It’s great if you make a long distance call.
You’re not using minutes, you’re using data.
Plus you can use your webcam and you have a video phone.
The future is here.
I use it daily for both business and personal voice communication. We have a Skype-out number at our home and an annual access plan that give completely free call within both Australia and The UK. It has reached the stage where voice quality surpasses the local landlines and drop-out are rare, no more than one every few moths. I can also use through my phone or notebook when out and using WiFi access to the internet.
