Anything that gets me moving faster and not really thinking about the workout itself. I like anything by Atmosphere for a little hiphop, or dancy party music can be good.
I listen to the upbeat portions of Outkast’s Idlewild album along with some songs from the Across the Universe soundtrack and various gospel songs.
Sexyback. Hangs head in shame.
@Likeradar Don’t hang your head! We all secretly lurve Justin Timberlake. I’m sure of it!
@PretentiousArtist How on earth can that get you moving fast enough? I listen to that when I want to curl up in a corner of my room and cry (kidding, of course).
I don’t know, I just like to workout with Radiohead :P
Realise by MBV (NOT Bullet for my valentine, the incredibly crappy band for 14 year old girls)
And of course, can’t go wrong with Stump’s Buffalo
Anything by Journey. Hangs head in shame for that one. I once got into an hour long argument with a guy at the gym about the fact that he didn’t think Journey was good workout music. I told him it was. He told me it wasn’t. Then the sound system in the gym played “Any Way You Want It”. I won that argument.
“Bodies” – Drowning Pool fits in anything I think. I don’t really listen to any specific song when doing so though. Although, my shuffle feature on my iPod seems to always know what’s good for the mood. It’s actually kind of creepy.
Well, I don’t really work out, but if I did, I would probably choose some dance/pop/R&B type song and “Sexyback” is the perfect example of that, @Likeradar. :)
I listen to songs by bands you’ve never heard of.
Classical. Aint nothin better
The Song of the Volga Boatmen; First three lines give you an idea…it works better in Russian.
Yo, heave ho!
Yo, heave ho!
Once more, once again, still once more
@deni I love classical too, but not for working out. Were you the person who liked Asereje when I posted it on a different thread?
@JLeslie Yesss. Well, I have had good experience with the William Tell Overture and O Fortuna while running…and a few others…Beethoven’s fifth symphony maybe? I listen to the first 2 a lot when I work out, for some reason there is something about those songs that makes me wanna GO.
@deni Interesting. By the way my husband is obsessed with the Steelers.
@JLeslie what person that calls themselves a steelers fan not obsessed? lol I’m not a Football fan, but I have known a few steelers fans.
@Axemusica I would have to agree with your statment.
Chick Habit by April March.
I even have a little dance routine that I do to it for cardio.
Were you folks aware that being the recipient of a severe ass beating burns about 1200 calories?
Tghe final countdown by Europe? I find it quite motivating, but I have my favorite.
Clubbet to death by rob dougan (the matrix theme). It’s awesome! Reminds me about how awesome those movies are, and is great for phsycing me up! plus it’s 8 minutes long
“100 bottles of Beer”
Great for doing 12 oz curls…
Being one of the aging Flutherers (56) I simply play fast disco while working out. It gets you moving quickly. Nostalgia and effectiveness at the same time. I just looked at my “Recently Played” list on my gym computer. Baccara, Donna Summer, Abba, Diana Ross, Boney M, Racey, Pointer Sisters etc.
@DarkScribe I still LOVE ABBA, listen to them all of the time, but usually not for working out.
@Blondesjon I’ve always liked Quentin Tarantino’s selection of music. I really need to get some of the sound tracks for his movies.
Hip hop! ” I look fly….. I look good” haha
Damn you @PretentiousArtist You just had to say Radiohead before me didn’t you! :) Lurve for you anyway
I made myself a couple of cds to play; I like a certain tempo & have a lot of different stuff, let’s see, Duran Duran, Daft Punk, Depeche Mode, Thomas Dolby, Devo…hmmm, never realized I had such a “D” thing going!!! Non-D’s include Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Blondie…that’s all I can remember without actually playing the cds. Haven’t done any working out recently because of knee trouble- I need to get back in the habit.

Bullet for My Valentine biatch!!!!
Scream Aim Fire
or, Hand of blood
@Grisaille I have Kashmir on my iPod but I never thought about how perfect it is for working out. GA!
@Mr_Grimm I like bullet and I also like radiohead. Both are very different brand of music and both are very creative and unique, I wouldn’t bash RadioHead until you actually listen to quite a bit of it. Though, I’ve heard my fair share of country and I HATE it so much.
@Mr_Grimm What a mature, intelligent reply, spoken like a true BFMV fan.
If someone is a gay homosexual, does that make them a heterosexual?
Great freakin question, and i definately hate country, i think your probably a fricken cool person, am i right, or am I horribley wrong?
Alll you guys should try to listen to Felix Da Housecat, I havent herd my fair share of radiohead, however, Felix Da Housecat might be a bit higher in rank, dont beleive me? Look it up, and look up The Future calls the dawn, and money, success, fame glamour. Both great songs by one black guy!
perhaps you should take some Tyrenor.
i think you mean tylenol, or is tyrenor a drug? (and again PretentiousArtist, I apologize for calling you a flamboyant homo, it wasn’t nice, I dont even know you so….... yeeah…....)
anything by the scissor sisters! or mika
@filmfann: I am speechless…a rare event. Mercifully I was too old and my kids too young so we missed that.
My grandmother always cooked with chicken fat.
may I ask… what is the…. chicken song???
Listen to flimfann’s link. It was an annoying doggerel from the JFK era, designed to get little kids moving. It generally succeeded in making them run as fast as they could away from the record player.
Ok!!! Has anyone heard of Kraftwerk? Try finding the song popcorn!!!
During the JFK era, everyone in school had to exercise to the Chicken Fat song.
