@eponymoushipster go to googlewaveinvites.com It’s a site some adventurous soul put up for people with invites to share to the world. You just sign up and hope basically

Never heard of it, but I just went to the site and asked for an invite. I’ll let you know if I get in…

No shortage of hype about it, is there? Time will tell, I guess, whether it’s actually any use. I’m not going to lose any sleep trying to get hold of an invite.

This is like, the 3rd or 4th thread I’ve seen about this “google wave” thing. Wtf is it? I went to the sight, but I don’t feel like watching an hour and half movie to find out.

@kyle94481 yeah, i signed up with google months ago and that site last night. we’ll see.

Is it advanced/next-gen IM-ing?

That’s what I got from the mini-vid.

How is it going to be useful/better than current-gen IM-ing?

(Although Wave gets props for its many references to Firefly.)

I see. From that video it almost looks like you’ll never need to log into another site that’s in the wave, lol. I’m kind of interested.

I’m “in”, but I don’t quite know what to make of it yet since noone I’ve invited has actually gotten their invite yet. It’s very lonely, and I want to try out a wave. My basic understanding is that multiple people can edit and mess with a “wave” simultaneously. A collaborative Gmail type environment, with embedded video, pictures, widgets, etc.

Check out this video, found from Lifehacker. Posted within the last 2 days on their site. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDu2A3WzQpo&feature=player_embedded

Makes sense of Wave in a short 2 minute video

It could be useful, but only if your contacts have it too.

I didn’t request an invite – one came on my Gmail account. I haven’t played with it as yet, not sure that I will find it useful. I already use Skype conference, video and file transfer.

I think that this will probably be a great advancement in this kind of technology.

I love it. I’m dying to get an invite too. If anyone gets one I would love an invite (gloople@yahoo.com). I share too.

kyle94481's avatar

Yeah I wish I could get an invite. It’d be great. Hint Hint kyle94481@gmail.com

RE: INVITES I’m pretty sure most (if not all) accounts to not include the ability to invite others as gmail did. This is based on the number of votes for the “add invites!” ideas, and my own lack of invites. For now, Wave remains in “internal-approval only, preview mode.” Best bet is to request one from Google directly.

eponymoushipster's avatar

@Beta_Orionis yeah, i requested one straight from Google when you could first request one. still waiting

I finally got one! You get 8 invites, (The option to invite is in one of the three Waves you get by default). I sent some to my other gmail accounts so I could get some more >: )

Just send me your e-mail and I’ll send you an invite when I can. Namaste.

I just got mine today as well.
