What are some foods that are healthy for you and you enjoy eating that give you natural energy?
I’m talking about good, healthy foods/snacks like almonds, which I love, that give you a good boost of energy. I’m not talking about beverages such as red bull or other energy drinks because those give you large doses of energy not necessarily healthy for you.

Ice cream. (it’s healthier than you think)
Baked potatoes are a great healthy way to get a lot of carbs into you. Many runners eat potatoes for quick energy.
Fruit. (grapes give me the biggest engery boost).
All food gives you energy. Thats what calories are, units of energy.
Organic yams; seasonal fruits and vegetables: oatmeal with ground flax seed, cinnamon, prunes and walnuts: eggs scrambled in MWwith salsa;Tabouli (I make my own); brown rice and beans with accoutrements of your choice..are low calorie foods.
For quick energy, fruit.
For more long-lasting energy protein, which can be meat, cheese, or nuts.
@JollyTiger How is ice cream in any way healthy, aside from the calcium?
Apples.
For long lasting energy, protein for breakfast is recommended
If I need my toddler to remain alert & focused, I feed him PB for breakfast along with some yogurt.
My favorite snack is dried fruit (dried on my home dehydrated whenever possible so no added sugar or preservatives) with some roasted soybeans (edamame).
@Likeradar, sugar & fat are only “bad” because most people are too sedentary, eat too much and gain weight. If one is very active & burns a lot of calories it’s not such a problem.
@ccrow Obviously. I asked how it’s “healthier than you think.”
Actually, you said ”@JollyTiger How is ice cream in any way healthy, aside from the calcium?”
That’s the question I was answering.
This post has inspired me to eat carrots and broccoli instead of an Entenmann’s donut. Thanks, fluther.
Well, Emergen*C is good for you and gives you a burst of non-caffeinated energy. And most of the flavors are tasty, too.
If I want to stay full for a long time, at breakfast I will eat a piece of toast with about ⅓ of a smashed avocado on top. Fat + protein + whole grains = full until lunch. (Make sure to salt + pepper the avocado, as well as adding lemon or lime, if you like.)
Milk is a good healthy-for-you, “energy” drink. Cow’s milk is okay, but soy milk tends to be easier on digestive systems.
Unsweetened sun tea + 100% fruit juice is tasty, refreshing and good for you.
Helpful? y/n?
