Who makes the best hearing aids?

Exactly how important is price, since they range from very inexpensive to very costly.

Track down @hearkat, since she’s an audiologist.
One audiologist I worked with sold Starkey. She did quality work, so I assume Starkey is a quality brand. There is a difference relative to price. The cheaper aids are little more than amplifiers. She also did not like the in-ear aids and said the over the ear aids were much better. That was 4 years ago, so I don’t know if the story is different today.
There is no right ot wrong answer to this question because it depends on your hearing loss, the amount of funds you have, the type of hearing aid you want to use and many other factors. I would suggest checking out hearing aids at wikipedia for more background info on hearing aids.
