It sounds more healthy than tasty. I haven’t seen it anywhere to be able to try it.
Have you tried it?
Did you like it?

Yes, it’s a form of green tea with a very light color. I prefer the darker brands like gunpowder or sencha.
Yep (from pickwick, not handmade), it tasted like regular tea. But very light, like a regular teabag that has only been in the water for about 3 seconds.
Didn’t do much for me; I like Roobios or Orange Pekoe.
It’s not too bad. Very inoffensive. On the other hand, it isn’t too good, either. :) Probably better in one of those blends they make with it, if you like the other stuff it’s blended with.
But it’s not bad-tasting. It’s mostly just not-tasting.
Give me genmaicha any day.
Well, you know what they say about black tea…
My wife loves it. I find it innocuous and prefer a strong mix of black and green.
White tea is called that because it is made from the whitish-silver baby-leaves of the same bush as green tea. Rather than let the leaves grow to their full size (that would make them green tea once picked) they are picked young, giving the tea less of a flavor, but a much higher concentration of antioxidents, as well as very little caffeine.
If you are looking for a very subtle, inoffensive tea that is more about health benefits and being warm than it is about tasting like tea, White tea is the tea for you.
I agree with @aphilotus – it has a very subtle light taste and the “healthiest” tea. I find them at my local supermarkets (Waldbaums, Stop & Shop, Shoprite) in bags (as opposed to loose leaves), often with another fruit to give it more flavor. Great tea to relax with. If you can’t find them locally, you can find them online at link
I like it a lot, but the only place I can seem to find it is at the farmers market. And I agree with @BraveWarrior “Great tea to relax with.”
It’s a nice one to drink at night as you don’t get the caffeine.
I’ve had the one from Celestial Seasons with pear and vanilla flavors added. Very nice.
@Buttonstc that’s right, thanks. I have been looking for that for a while, out here, but mabey I need to go to Boulder, and get some. I love going to the Celestial Seasons factory
For those of you who have tried white tea and say it has no taste or character, I strongly suggest going to a teashop and tasting some good white tea.
My very favorite is Silver Needles, which has a wonderful taste and is very relaxing.
Another one that I like is Pai Mu Tan, which is more robust in flavor, but I like it.
White tea has about ¼ the caffeine of green tea, which has ¼ the caffeine of black tea, which has ¼ the caffeine of coffee.
Its health benefits are unparalleled.
It also has none of raw, often bitter, flavor of green teas.
I tried a white tea from Lipton at a friend’s house, but it was mixed with something (mandarin, maybe?). It was difficult to discern the actual flavor of the tea because of the fruit flavoring, but it seemed mild.
I love me some good white tea! Its very light but very tasty in its own way. Starbucks has a delicious white berry blossom tea that I really like (I know I’m a horrible person for drinking bagged tea). I’ve also had some awesome loose leaf white teas from Adagio, but I can’t remember which ones were my favorites.
@drdoombot Two strikes: Lipton and fruit mixed with tea. (OK, there are a few exceptions, but it is way too prevalent a trend.)
My son is a serious tea fancier and has tried many varieties of white and silver leaf teas. I have sampled some. The best are delicate, even exquisite, in their light, mellow flavor, sipped and savored slowly. The range of quality is wide, though, and even the same variety sold by different suppliers and harvested in different seasons can vary considerably. My son has purchased quarter-ounce samples online and also in tea shops to find the ones he thought were worth a larger investment.
Certainly I have. I find it to be quite delicious. I recommend White Symphony by Adagio Teas and Berryblossom White by Tazo.
White has a slightly sweet, light flavor that is very different from black teas. It is best steeped for a very short time so as not to make the flavor too strong. They are also very popular for fruity or sweet flavorings like blueberry, cranberry, and cocoa.
I love white tea, it’s very mild.
