I have 24 Hours before my ISP resets my download quota and 3 GB unused, what should I download?

Asked by bluemukaki (4332points) January 30th, 2008

Music, games etc. Any Suggestions, we so often go over it I figure I might as well use the full quota, but I can’t find anything that will download in time.

Wow, your ISP sets a download quota on you? What ISP is it and where are you located?

Boy that would suck to have quota…and only 3GB at that. Is that per day?

Internode, Hobart Australia. no, we went on holiday and didn’t download anything for half the month so we haven’t downloaded anything. I think we get 30GB before they slow the service down…

Unfortunately, in Australia it is the norm for the ISPs to have download/upload quotas. 30 GB is actually quite a high cap, most people I know have caps anything between 1 GB and 10 GB (the higher the cap the more the cost is) . When you go over the quota, the Internet either slows down to below dialup speeds, or you have to pay for each megabyte that you download over the limit. The quota resets on a certain day every month (usually the first day).

My ISP let you download unlimited in off-peak hours (1 AM – 7 AM), so I set things to start downloading between those hours and leave the computer on at night.
