Good luck in finding a dress that you like.
And this isn’t the answer you want, but here goes:
Clothing is not the way to impress a guy.

I found this dress, but you should check out the rest of the website, but the one I chose is one that I like. But you said formal strapless. There is quit a variety on here.

If you are near a Macy’s check out their clearance section. They have some great deals because they have some big loans coming due and not enough cash on hand to cover them. Other big department stores may be doing the same thing right now during the economic crunch.

My daughter’s dress for Homecoming was marked down from $120 to $17.

I also suggest you go to a big store and try on a bunch of dresses, to see which type looks best on you. Then you can buy online with more certainty that both color and cut will be flattering to you.

You could check out the special occasion page at David’s Bridal. They have some nice dresses that are pretty affordable for all occasions. I like the champagne colored one in my link.. it’s pretty cute!

Girls dress for other girls. Guys usually don’t pay that much attention to what girls have on. They just notice that you look beautiful.

My best advice is, if you want to find something cool look outside of the normal homecoming/ prom dress sections of stores. All those dresses tend to look the same. I found my prom dress at a secondhand shop for $17, and I loved it. It was a short, strapless, black sequined dress. I had a lot more fun than my friends, because they were all tripping on the hems of their long ballgowns. :p Think outside the box and look in places your friends won’t be shopping. Try consignment shops- a lot of them have carefully chosen clothes for great prices. Or save up money and try some stores that are a little more grown-up, and would normally be out of your price range. Once I modified a dress that looked kind of plain by embroidering seed beads all over it. Be creative, have fun!

OOoooooo, I agree with Pandora! Vintage! Vintage! Vintage! Go look in your grandma’s closet or your old doddy aunt’s closet. Check out secondhand shops…for some lovely retro prom dress that you can alter. The 30’s and 40’s had some glamorous dresses. Don’t be like every other girl there…be different. You can also find vintage formal patterns on Ebay…for a few dollars and you can have someone sew up something for you.

What inspiration? Watch the movie “Pretty in Pink” with Molly Ringwald. That dress looks naff now, but in the 80’s it was cool. I would also watch any old movies (Bringing up Baby and The Philadelphia Story) for some glam stuff.

I hope he asks you for Halloween…if he doesn’t….throw your net wider…

All the very, very best to you….keeping my fingers crossed for you!

With regards to strapless dresses and high school girls—there is absolutely nothing attractive about a girl in a strapless dress tugging the bodice up all night long.

Oops….I meant “Haleth” not Pandora…..geez…sorry about that.
