What should I do with my old Mac?

Asked by christybird (819points) January 30th, 2008

So my G3 Powerbook finally died on me and I took out the hard drive. What do I do with the thing now? Does Apple take them back?

From what I understand is if you buy a new computer from Apple they will recycle the computer for you. More information http://www.apple.com/environment/recycling/program/index.html

Yes, you can recycle it through mac, some other places recycle electronics as well. Conversely, you can wipe the hard drive and donate it to a school or a non-profit. I’d bet almost any community group in your area would be happy to have it.

i believe you’ll get 10% store credit for taking it to apple

You should ship to me, where I will get it working again and then pass it off to a kid that needs a decent machine to work with!

You might be able to get some money out of it at Second Rotation. They recycle electronics and gadgets. Their website is here:http://www.secondrotation.com/
