I'm going to the National Equality March in DC tomorrow. Any ideas for sign slogans?
I was thinking something like “If we weren’t patriotic/if we didn’t love America, we wouldn’t try to fix it, we’d just emigrate!” But (as you can see) I’m having trouble making it short and witty.
And of course I’m open to other suggestions as well! I’d like to have a whole slew of witty slogans on hand to write on giant poster boards. :)

I think the usual all-purpose sign nowadays is a representation of Barack Obama with a “Hitler” mustache.
Love it?
Don’t Leave It,
Fix It!
“I am ASKING, I am TELLING!”
“Silly bigots, marriage is for LOVERS!”
”(Hey Obama- optional) This is what a FIERCE advocate looks like”
From Prop 8 rallies “No more Mr. Nice GAY Guy”
‘All men are created equal. No matter how hard you try, you can never erase those words.” Harvey Milk
“Hey Obama, you got CHANGES?” – or spare some CHANGES”
If you want to be a bit rude “Some of my best friends are DEMOCRATS” LOL or REPUBLICANS.
How about “We Are Americans!”
It is to the point- states your rights and shows patriotism.
(Plus it leaves room to add images)
Here is a good one:

(in light of the upcoming “holiday”)
okay I really do like the poster but I am just being humorous
I like the idea of your slogan, makes sense and a good point. I’d love to be at a National Equality March. I haven’t heard much about it. Can you say more what it is about specifically?
@RedPowerLady Sure! It’s a march to hopefully get equal rights for the GLBT (QQA…LMNOP…) community. The tagline is “Equal protection for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people in all matters governed by civil law in all 50 states. Now.” I’m more excited for the workshops on Saturday than the march on Sunday, since I think that Barack Obama is (probably) already on our side… But that’s sort of besides the point, I guess. It’s always good to march for what you believe in.
And @Marina, yours would be awesome on a flag background. :)
<—Editor. Can’t help myself. Glad you like it. It is essentially what you said shortened and made punchy.
@fireinthepriory Thanx for that. I suppose my slogan really has no relevance then, haha. I bet the workshops will be awesome.
Well I found a couple websites with some great pro lgbt slogans on them but perhaps they are overly popular. I’m not sure they address patriotism though.

I really hope the March brings more awareness to LGBT issues.
@Marina Great job making it short and punchy :)
@Marina Which is exactly what I wanted!! If I could give you ten more GAs I would.
@RedPowerLady Ooh, cool. I’ll jot some down in my handy dandy notebook. And thanks. :) I’m excited!
That is great! Have a good time!!!
Give them my two cents:
Why do I have to wait for equal rights?
When did equal rights become a low priority?
Gay= Intelligent design
and then a picture of an Eames chair.
@Marina It was amazing! I have a few photos up on my photobucket… this one is the best I took all weekend, I think. It really embodies the reason we were all there. And here’s a cute one – I love the guy on the left! :) And one more that shows another nice sign. I think this was taken right before Lady Gaga spoke. She wasn’t lying when she said a ton of her fans were gay – I haven’t seen that many gay men look so excited since… ever! About ¾ of the people sitting on the lawn jumped to their feet when they announced her name. I was more excited for Cleve Jones, who said (among other more serious things) that the most important message from the film Milk was that yes, he really was that hot in his youth. Anyway, it was a really inspiring march to attend. There were many more speakers who were really great, if you have time you could watch some of them here on the march web site.
And thanks for the sign ideas everyone! I got a lot of compliments on my sign, too – I used your slogan, @Marina, and a friend did “No More Mr. Nice Gay.” I also carried a sunflower. :D
@fireinthepriory Those were wonderful pictures. The first one of the older guys moved me to tears.
Thanks also for the link. I will take a look.
