Chocolate has dairy , dairy = more mucus / flem .

Milk chocolate and “white” chocolate contain dairy. Most chocolates sold as “dark chocolate” do not. I’ve eaten more chocolate in my lifetime than the average human, and have never noticed any link between dark chocolate and mucous. I think that if chocolate appeals to you now, you can go for it with confidence.

Hope you feel better soon. Flu’s a bummer.

Why did this end up in my “activity for you” when I’m not following it?

@DominicX you’re automatically included in any “mucous” questions :)

Personally, I have no interest in eating chocolate when I have the flu. If I can eat at all I find it better to consume chicken soup and some juices well-watered down with ice. The juice has antioxidants in it (especially some of the really dark juices), and hot drinks and chicken soup both been proven to make you feel better if you are congested, and in the case of chicken soup, can actually help dissolve mucus in the lungs and suppress inflammation.

However, eating a bit of chocolate periodically before you get sick may help you keep from getting sick at all, or lessen your illness, because of the antioxidants in good chocolate.

So chocolate before, chicken soup during.
