“Swinging Standards” (Bing, Sinatra, Andrew Sisters, Ella, Billie Holiday), all of the old stuff; I always listen to it on a Saturday morning. I love old fire escapes. I’ve always pictured myself as one of those women from the 50’s in New York City, with a hankerchief head scarf on, hanging her clothes out on a balcony clothes line whilst listening to an old radio show. I’ve had many, many dreams about Central Park over the years. Finally got to go there last year.
Oh, and I love vintage robots.

@jmah I LOVE, LOVE, Love the standards, (am seeing Tony Bennett for the umpteenth time in Atlantic City Next month)
Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era… *sigh
I am a cook-book whore… I just bought a first edition Mennonite Community Cookbook from 1950… I’ll probably never make anything from it, but I just had to have it
I do love to cook and feeding my family is one of life’s pleasures for me
I always wish that I had gone to the Restaurant School in Philadelphia instead of taking the career path that I did… I secretly want to be a ‘celebrity chef’. Not in the “Food Network” standard, I’m talking about one of the GREATS like Thomas Keller or Daniel Boulud
I love late 70’s to late 80’s videogames and music from the 1980’s. I don’t even own a Wii or an Xbox360. Just give me Berzerk on Atari 2600 with Tears for Fears on the radio and I’m happy.
I’ve also recently rediscovered my love of Three Stooges short films. 60
+ years later and they’re still funnier than almost anything new on tv.
I have a whole load of records but I am a huge fan of 60’s “pop” music and so have pretty much everything released by the likes of Dusty Springfield, Judith Durham and The Seekers, Petula Clark, Barbra Streisand (her early stuff and al her more recent stuff), Cher (with Sonny and without) the list goes on….
I have also been known to spend far too much money for special editions, autographs, rarities etc but it’s always worth it to me.
I used to collect vintage clothing and jewelry and enjoyed to wear it.
I LOVE old movies, Philedelphia Story, Some Like it Hot, Bringing up Baby, The Maltese Falcon etc. I love the way women dressed in the 50’s. Maybe that stems from the fact that my body type is more curvy like the lovely ladies back then. Even the make-up is gorgeous. I just love that era. I even like it when guys use terms of endearment like, “kid” or “doll”. I melt. And I even listen to and enjoy Julie London and Doris Day.
I can’t believe I did this, but I just paid $120.00 USD for a vintage rock T-shirt… a used T-shirt! Just had to have it, I guess.
I started trying to collect late 50s-early 60s clothing, shoes and accessories, but it got too expensive.
I was so happy earlier this year when I could fit into both my early 1960s dresses again. I even wore one for the Mad Men Photo Contest! And even though in the picture, one can’t see the rest of the outfit, I wore period shoes and carried a period handbag. Some of my neighbors lived through that era, and, the women especially, kept interrupting the photo shoot (we were shooting outside) and raving about the condition of the dress or reminiscing about those days.
My pops actually handed me down his really old coin collection when I was young. Had some coins dating back to the 1910’s. Sadly, when I moved from the house (and they, as well), there was a discrepancy with the landlord and 90% of all my personal belongings was thrown out. The coins went with it.
I always wanted to start over, from scratch.
