well, what are your needs? do you need it to be small? is quality an issue? do you care about manual controls? etc.

Canon and Nikon are the 2 most common brands and you can’t go wrong if you get a camera from ether. i would recommend looking at reviews online and just going with what feles right for your needs.

I have a friend that has a Canon Powershot SD770 – it is small, lightweight, and imo takes really decent pictures. It also has a good-sized LCD screen and has 10mp. The list price is $229.00 but I’m pretty sure she paid around $100 for it. If not, there are similar Canon models under that one.

I used to be an electronics salesman, and I liked Canon the best. Why? Because it was the easiest to use, and I found that’s what most customers wanted the most. Plug the camera into your computer with the supplied USB cable, and the photos are automatically downloaded to your computer, and a folder is created for that purpose. Easy peasy Japanese-y. Also, Canons are reliable and take accurate, richly-colored photos. Getting a new one for under $100 might be tough, but try EBay.

Don’t get fooled by megapixels. Look for a large quality lens (unless you want a really tiny camera).

Seconded on the lens. Also, try in the store, play at home, and return until you find one you like. They all share common components, except the lens and the menu interface. If you can’t figure out how to use it in about 10 minutes, punt.
