Does anyone know the recipe for an OC Ice Tea?

Asked by dalepetrie (18029points) October 13th, 2009

If you’ve ever been to the restaurant Old Chicago, they have a specialty drink called the OC Ice Tea (Old Chicago Ice Tea), which is their version of a Long Island. But the menu says they make it with I think 3 varieties of Smirnov, at least I believe it’s Smirnov, they use Orange, Vanilla and I think Raspberry. These things go down like juice…you can’t even taste the alcohol, but you can feel it after just one drink, but they run like $6 or $7 a pop. My brother and law and his SO will go to Old Chicago and drop like $100 on these things.

My wife and I really don’t drink much anymore, but when we want a drink, we both appreciate something smooth and effective, and for our money, this is the perfect drink, perhaps the best mixed drink ever invented. It comes down to this…I need the recipe. I’d REALLY like to get my hands on it soon as my wife’s 40th birthday is on Friday and I’d love to be able to mix these up to celebrate.

So, if you’ve ever worked as a bartender at Old Chicago, or if you have some other way of finding this out, I’d be forever in your debt.

You can try calling them, saying you’ve just moved to [insert state across the country here], and it’s your wife’s birthday and she loves those drinks so much that you’d like to make her one, since you no longer have access to the restaurant. They might give it to you.

@dalepetrie I agree with @poofandmook. I emailed a fav restaurant in Chi town for a recipe last year before the holidays. They have out of this world homemade hot cocoa that they use in hot drink with Butterscotch Schnapps…Yum!

The head chef emailed me back the same day and was glad to know he had a :) Happy (: customer that wanted to share his creation with family & friends!

Found this here:

The O.C. Iced Tea

2 ounces Three Olives Passionfruit Vodka

4 ounces Sweetened Iced Tea

2 ounces Lemon Lime Soda

Mix in a glass filled with ice. Garnish with a lime wedge.

@Harp That doesn’t have three varieties of fruity Smirnoff’s like Dale wanted, but sounds good.

@dalepetrie Have you gone to Smirnoff’s site and asked for the recipe there? (They have some tasty looking recipes there, too) If OC doesn’t come through, this would be a good second option for you.

I too came here after googling Old Chicago Long Island Tea—I want that recipe!!
Looks like we’re still waiting/searching, eh dalepetrie? Any luck yet?
There must be a disgruntled OC ex bartender out there somewhere…

Actually, I emailed OC and the lady who invented the drink gave it to me under request not to spread it around. Perhaps if anyone REALLY wants it, I can pm them…
