Sleepwalking.. What is it?

My cousin yesterday slept to my home. At 4am, I woke up because I heard footsteps.. My cousin was walking. I told him “what the hell are you doing?? Go back to bed”. But he didn’t answer. So I remembered that he is a sleepwalker. It was kinda scary but also funny. He was trying to wear a sock on his head!!!
So I am asking, what is sleepwalking, how to you get it, what are the dangers , etc.
