Private Messages in Coral Reef?
Might it be possible, someday, to have the ability to send a private message to other users in the chat room? I know we have our mail already, but it might be a little faster to be able to do that right in the chat.
I’m not even sure if that’d be possible for what chat program is being used, but I’m just curious. :)

Once we rebuild the chatroom as part of the main site, you’ll be able to PM from there, yes.
I second that! I was going to Google for temporary private chatrooms, but somehow I feel that is a bad bad idea.
@andrew I like chat rooms and pm’s…..
I was a mod in Hotmail (MSN actually) – wasn’t called a mod there – anyway – it was fast chat with dozens of people chatting live at the same time – with the ability to privately PM as well.
It’s hectic and nearly impossible to moderate in real-time – i.e. racists, sickos, psychos and taunts and vulgarity – you name it. Ye you can warn them twice, then ban them, then have to justify banning them, and spend hours and hours behind the scenes – something about Free Speech…
Wis.dm was bad enough – but live chat? That would be a logistical nightmare in terms of keeping up with the fluther standards, IMHO.

@DrasticDreamer now that you have Twitter (ahem..updates?), you can use tinychat.com to create a quick, temporary chatroom thru twitter.
