What is it about celebrity that seems to compress a lifetime into a few short years?

Was reading today’s news: Avril Lavigne (she’s 25 – when did that happen?!) is already getting divorced after just three years of marriage (no kids, thank G-d).
She also wants to “mellow out” her singing style.
What happened to the little Canadian teen singing Skater-Boi (with an “i” right? Not boy – for whatever reason – not a typo)?
Madonna on divorce number ? – says she’d rather get hit by a train than marry again – and she’s a young 50 – still outperforming everyone else (highest grossing concert tour of the year, btw.)
Heath Ledger et al.
Do you agree? Can you think of other examples, or perhaps analyse this with me.

Artists can be a crazy breed.
Personally, I think these behavior patterns have more to do with selfishness, narcissism, self absorption and a lack of consideration to others.
Well, first of all I don’t think it’s that unusual or necessarily related to celebrity. I’m not yet 30 and I have 4 separate friends who are either divorced or in the process of divorce.
Also, I imagine little in those peoples’ lives are what other people would consider normal. They have more money than most of us could imagine, have things handed to them, and are likely surrounded by yes-people. They may not be prepared for the amount of responsibility give-and-take a solid relationship requires.
As far as Avril Lavigne goes… she’s not a teenager anymore. She’s a 25 year old woman. Are your musical tastes the same now as they were when you were 17?
@Likeradar I agree, I know – it cuaght me off-guard for some reason – where have the years gone? Maybe because I never followed her music.
They get high from and addicted to the attention and just can’t get enough. They would rather ride the peak for a short while and burn out rather than slowly extinguish and kick their habit. Well, maybe not all, but most, I think. See ya….Gary/wtf
Celebrity life cycles have evolved to account for the short attention spans of their audience.
