General Question

I need to know if I can buy JUST The New York Times Magazine without buying a subscription to the paper.

Asked by TheNakedHippie (470points) October 17th, 2009

I don’t want the whole paper, necessarily, but I DO really want the magazine, and one in particular. Is it possible to order these online or get it at a Boarders?

Doesn’t look like it, but I’m not a NYC reader. Until someone comes up with a better answer, you could just try contacting them here with a really good heartbreaking story. They do sell reprints of any given page in the regular edition, so who knows.

No. But it’s online Sunday Morning. www.nytimes.com then scroll down to Magazine et voila.

Great link @NewZen. If you follow this link you’ll land on the page he is talking about and you’ll see a list of recent Times Magazine (use the arrows to navigate to older issues).

That’s great information! Thank you both so much, but I’m still holding out hope for a hard copy of the Food Issue, haha! ;]

I’ve round the NYT magazine articles online by just googling the topic, like this one.

My parents just get the Sunday Times so they can get the Times Book Review and the Magazine. You can subscribe to just the Review, but I think you need the whole Sunday paper to get the Magazine.

In any case, if you do get the Sunday NY Times, you will never run out of newsprint to use for packing material, bird cage liners, and fire-starting.

No, you can’t buy the magazine without the paper. If it’s just the one issue that you want, why not spring for the whole paper for that one day and get the magazine issue with it? You can always recycle the rest of the paper.

Since the issue you want is a few weeks old, I imagine the bigger question to be will you still find it for sale anywhere?

@janbb thanks for the response—the issue is from Oct. 11, 2009… think I can get it from NYT itself???

It wouldn’t hurt to call their customer service department and ask. Where do you live? It’s possible that one of your local magazine or newstores still has it since it is just last week. It should also be available in a library if you want to just read it and photocopy some articles.

There’s a deli by my house that just sells the magazine on Sundays. Unfortunately they have to give back any copies they don’t sell.
I wish I had known sooner. I threw out my food issue copy two days ago. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for a stray copy when i’m at friend’s houses.
