i need help from some of the few people that have gotten their hands on the new Windows 7….i have just purchased a HP TOUCHSMART 12 IN 4GB 320GB LAPTOP TX2–1020US AS-IS…..i am not extremely tech savvy to say the least…i use computers for basic-moderate things…but i have been told by a few people that Vista on the Touchsmart, is very unresponsive, slow, and difficult to work with…and that i should upgrade when 7 comes out….
from the view point of the Fluther community….should i upgrade right away…or wait till the prices go down a bit??????

Cool! I am getting tge same computer in a few months! I can’t help you, but I am very interested in this. What problems have you encountered?
well to be honest i havn’t even opened the box yet…i shipped it to my mother house…as i am between housing in my current travels
i’;ll be playing with it soon though…my family is takeing a trip ut to see me in a week or so…i’ll keep you posted
If you don’t really mind about the data on the computer, you might be better off getting a full edition of Windows 7 as opposed to the upgrade. Vista is a rather clunky OS, so it might be best to start from scratch and replace the operating system completely.
thanks buckyboy28…i’ll keep that in mind…
Sorry for being stupid… Would the laptop work the same? (e.g. The touchscreen and fingerprint scanner?)
If you recall what happened with W-Vista at the start, at all, you should downgrade to winXP; there is no issue of upgrading!
XOIIO it dose work the same….
and down gradeing is quite obviously an option…thank you gagara
Grammar Nazi.
does and downgrading
Are you at a University? If you are you can probably get it super cheap. If the computer was new you might be eligible for some kind of upgrade program. Check here.
I would do the upgrade. I damn near tossed my sisters Vista laptop out the window today. I hate Vista with a passion. Windows 7 is a lot better.
grammar nazi…funny…and thanks…i tend to slack off on proper sentence structure when i’m lazy…lol…like right now for example
johnpowell…thanks but its a used computer off of ebay…so i don’t qualify…thanks any how
I’d totally get Win7 day and date on release. It’s been incredibly well tested. As far as prices for the software going down… That doesn’t happen with Windows. Sorry.
