Nero 8 (micro) problem, what should I do?

I got four errors when installing nero 8.1.1.4 (micro). The 3 errors while installation are:
1. C:\Windows\System32\BCGPOleAcc.dll
Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0×3
Click Retry to try again, Ignore to proceed anyway (Not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation.
2. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nero\Lib\NeroFileDialog.dll
Unable to register…same as above
Click Retry…same as above
3. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nero\Lib\NeroFileDialogVista.dll
unable…same as above
Click Retry…same as above
I chose “Ignore” and completed the installation. Then, when I try to open the Nero Express, I get Nero.exe Application Error saying that:
The Application failed to initialize properly (0xc01500004). Click on OK to terminate the application.
And, there’s just this OK button.
I have Windows XP SP 3 and all administrative rights (as I’m on my home computer). What should I do?

Did you have a previous version of Nero on your computer before this one?
You should download the General CleanTool utility from their site and run it several times. Make sure you download the correct one, not the Nero 9 version.
You can find it here:
http://www.nero.com/eng/tools-utilities.html#tab4
In fact, use it instead of uninstalling the malfunctioning apps. It will clean the registry as well.
If that doesn’t work you’ll have to go through Nero’s tech support. Good luck!
@Jack_Haas Thank you! Does cleaning registry lead to unstable windows? because I’ve my PC formatted now and reformatting again would a great trouble for me. And, is there any other way if it makes windows unstable?
What actually it does that is cleaning registry?
I have Nero 7.8 ultra; it might have the cleaner. I tried to install it also, but same problems.
Yeah, I tried both Nero 7 & 8 for installing a couple of times; but same problem.
No, I’ve used it repeatedly and haven’t noticed any adverse effect on Windows. It only removes obsolete Nero registry entries that cause problems with the new version’s installer.
Okay, I’ve looked around and here’s a more precise explanation: the installer can’t register the dll files because they were already registered from a previous installation.
So, I still recommend runnign the CleanTool just to be on the safe side but apparently you can also try to register the files manually if you can extract them from the installation CD.
If you’re willing to try this, copy the 3 files manually to the appropriate folder, open the cmd window and run these lines:
regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\BCGPOleAcc.dll
regsvr32 C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nero\Lib\NeroFileDialog.dll
regsvr32 C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nero\Lib\NeroFileDialogVista.dll
I had installation problems with Nero 8 as well, in a similar situation and using the Nero 8 CleanTool was the solution.
I recommend not using Nero at all, it’s bloatware filled with unneccesary stuff. A much better freeware alternative is ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/
Quick to install, and no hassles.
@Jack_Haas yeah, I downloaded the cleaner tool, it did something and computer restarted. But nero installation registering errors still come.
You’re right, genius. I forgot, first Nero 8 essentials was installed, then Nero 7 essentials, then I tried nero 8 micro and now it errs. I haven’t tried (installing again) nero 7 essentials though. I’ll try it when I get the CD in a couple of days.
I installed nero 8, and run (Start button->Run) the 3 lines that you gave. It gave me following errors:
1. LoadLibrary(“C:\Windows\System32\BCGPOleAcc.dll”) failed – The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.
2. LoadLibrary(“C:\Program”) failed – The specified module could not be found.
3. LoadLibrary(“C:\Program”) failed – The specified module could not be found.
Am I supposed to move/delete those files from their location before running these lines? I have kept a back up of these 3 files.
@nisse I’ll look into it when I finish off this issue.
I can burn cd (data) at least with windows xp writer, but not dvds. For that, I’ll need nero.
That’s right, you should copy the files to the corresponding folders first.
BCGPOleAcc.dll in C:\Windows\System32
NeroFileDialog.dll and NeroFileDialogVista.dll in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nero\Lib
Then run the regsvr32 command to register the files. Don’t delete them from the installation CD or image.
Nero software sure is a huge pain in the rear, but in my case I use it for its Showtime video player. There simply is no equivalent on the market.
By the way, I’m surprised the CleanTool didn’t work. DId you make sure the “clean all” box was checked?
After you’ve used it once to remove the program files and you have restarted your PC, it’s a good idea to run it once more even if no program is listed. It doesn’t matter if the installation folders have been deleted. Just make sure the “clean all” box is checked and run it again.
@Jack_Haas I appreciate your help; thank you very much. The problem is still there.
Clean tool did work; it gave me a pop up window saying that there will remain some files on the hard drive. There were two options, cancel or continue anyway; I chose continue anyway. And yes, I ticked the check box of clean all.
I don’t really understand of what you mean by extracting those 3 (dll) files from nero set up. There’s only one file, the set up file (exe) of nero set up.
Here’s what I did. I installed nero anyway. These 3 files were also copied to their places/folders. I copied them (didn’t delete them), made a back up in another folder. Again, copied the files from this (back up) folder and pasted/replaced them.
Dang… that’s why unless avchd playback is substantially improved in the next version, I will stay the hell away from Nero.
Okay, just to get it out of the way, is your DirectX up to date? It can’t hurt to make sure it is. I saw some people had problems with NeroFileDialog.dll because of old DirectX setups.
I also found out there was a CleanTool specifically for Nero 7 so running it should be your next step. Here’s the link:

One thing I should have paid attention to from the beginning is the software versions you have. There are more recent ones that you should download:
Better start with the most recent, and that is Nero 8’s latest version v8.3.13.0. You can download it from here and install it after running both CleanTool versions 7 and 8.
http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nero8-update.php
I wouldn’t bother with it, but just in case, the latest Nero 7 is v7.11.10.0 and you can download it from here:
http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nero7-update.php
I hope at least something works!
@Jack_Haas Thank you very very much.
I’m sorry, we’ll have to wait for some time as I’m away from home now. I’ve sent this cleaner tool to my father and he’ll try this.
Yes, directX is updated. I have downloaded latest directX (9 or something) from microsoft and have installed it on the home pc.
I hope this should work. Thank you for your efforts.
You’re welcome. So many people have problems with Nero programs and Nero’s tech support is so useless, it’s only natural we help each other out.
I hope it works out in the end, other than that you’ll have to email Nero support, wait for an answer (a week, usually), explain them that you’ve already done what they tell you, probably explain the same thing again, etc…
Because it takes a long time for them to answer, you can save a week by downloading the GetSupportFiles tool and including its log in your email. Visit this page for the download and instructions: http://www.nero.com/eng/tools-utilities.html#tab5
Oh and no need to waste money calling their hotline. They only have a list of the most basic and common problems, and the same solution every single time: use the CleanTool.
Good luck!
@Jack_Haas Thank you very much!!!
This cleaner worked. And, Nero 8 (micro) has been installed now.
Thanks again.
