My jet-dry compartment is all gummed up. How can I fix it?

I was confused why my dishes and glasses were all coming out cloudy—I finally looked in my rinse-aid compartment and it looks like the agent has coagulated—it’s a white gooey mess. How can I clean it out?

Just something to try, Andrew…can you run a load through with vinegar there? That’s how you clean coffee pots out. I’ve never heard of the jet-dry compartment getting goopy. But vinegar is what I’d try. You obviously can’t run anything in there that would suds.
I second the vinegar suggestion. Just pour some in the bottom of the dishwasher, and run it (empty). Leave the Jet Dry compartment’s cap off or open.
If the vinegar does not work I would try using a turkey baster with warm water to flush it then use the suction to try and remove the residue.
Did the vinegar work? It should, but if it hasn’t, just wait till the drying phase is halfway through, grab an old toothbrush and most will come right off – the rest should come away easily with a paper towel or the next load. At that point it won’t be dried out but soft and much more easily removed.
I had to do all this on my new apartment’s dishwasher.
Well, I ended up dumping some water on it, which worked really well, except that now the jet-dry compartment is a water/jetdry compartment.
Run another load of water through a cycle with no jet-dry or detergent. It’ll act as a cycle pulling it out.
