Do you think we should be able to text 911?

As far as I know, most emergency dispatch places can’t receive text messages.. but what if you were in a situation where you just couldn’t talk to ask for help?
Wouldn’t it make sense to be able to send a text asking for assistance?
Technology is becoming ridiculously advanced.. why isn’t this possible already?

YES! I so think we should be bale to text 9–11. And texting doesnt use as much battery as calling does so if they have to go search for you they could be communicating with you for way longer. You should suggest it someone important.lol
Yes. I think it would be very convenient in certain situations.
Yes, I think I read an article about more and more dispatches beginning to accept text messages.
its makes a lot of sense.
You can call 911, they will be able to track your location even if you don’t reply.
I agree that you should be able to text 911.
I can see it now: 911 wuzup, I need hlp plz. kthxbye
@DominicX That made me laugh so hard my sides hurt.
Man oh man 911 would get some hilariously stupid texts.
“h3lp! d34d ppl up in h3r3.”
You already can in Black Hawk County, Iowa. There was a story about it on NPR a couple of months ago.
Yeah why not, you could silently text 911 your location and what is happening when calling is not an option or too dangerous.
@rangerr Glad I can have that effect… ;)
It would definitely be a good thing to support, the only down side I see is that someone may not be able to decipher the txt speak (if its used).
if, god forbid, I ever am in a situation where I need to text 911 all it’s going to say is
“oh noez”
