I downloaded a video from Facebook using “Real Player”, but when I went to play it, I only got audio – no visual. What’s up?

Without any more specifics, I’m afraid most people won’t be able to help.
Im guessing you used the RealPlayed Downloader that comes with the install? Maybe try a different downloading app. There are even some websites that will do it for you. Or just try it with realplayer again.
Are you sure it’s not an audio file? What’s the extension, .rv or .ra? Anyway if you want real help tell us what you did, you don’t go to a mechanic and say: something is wrong with my car, take it apart and rebuild it.
Facebook: Someone posted a video. Since it takes forever for me to watch videos (due to buffering) I decided to download it, using Real Player and watch it later. It downloaded successfully, but when I went to view/play it, I only got audio and no visual. I have used the app before without a problem. Does this help any?
Real Player still exists? I thought it disappeared years ago.
The most probable cause is a missing codec. Download a more recent and universal video player, VLC being the most obvious choice, and try playing the video with it.
Yeah, I was going to suggest playing the file with realplayer aswell.
Thank you, thank you for the responses.
Sounds like Real Player doesn’t have the correct video codec for the file.
Try Media Player Classic – if that doesn’t play it, and VLC doesn’t play it, pretty much nothing will.
I think Facebook uses flash video, doesn’t it? So you’d need something like VLC, like other people mentioned.
@the100thmonkey downloaded the Media Player Classics…worked right away—- thanks!
…Thank you all, Flutherites!
I am still discovering the 21st century.
