Suggestions for what to do with 1 cup of beef fat?
I made beef stock yesterday, and removed the fat from the surface—now I have about a cup of beef fat, filtered once through a coffee filter.
I know it’s good in french fry oil, and someone’s suggested gravy. Any other ideas for what to do with it?

You can use it for just about anything you would use oil, grease, butter, or shortening for. It’s just going to be terribly unhealthy. I wonder how it would be in place of butter or shortening for baking. Should work fine, but I don’t know about the flavor it would impart. Probably best for a savory baked good than a sweet one.
Put some birdseed in it and put it in the freezer, then place it outdoors this winter.for the birds.
Don’t eat it , it will clog your arteries. :)
If you have a dog or cat, I’m sure they would be glad to help you out with it! ;-)
@ccrow That seems like a good idea, but last time I gave my dog beef fat he had some very loose stool. I’m not entirely sure if it was good for him.
GA gottamakeart, that’s what I do with all my left over fat. The birds love it. now everyone knows why I am so skinny. =)
This fish has no dog, so that’s fine. =)
The birdseed thing is good, I think using it as a flavor in other fats would be good. I eat so little fat that a small amount of beef fat isn’t going to kill me… quickly.
@J0E Can’t see that going well—at room temperature, the fat’s a solid =)
@breedmitch Now there is a recipe born of not wanting to waste anything.
Dump it in your backyard.
Hot tub skin moisturizer?
@judochop I wouldn’t use it raw as a moisturizer, but you could make soap from it.
Yorkshire pudding is delicious with roast beef and gravy!
@gussnarp Yeah, if they’re not used to it, it can have that effect if there’s more than a little. It can be used to make dog treats, though, in place of oil/shortening & it will add flavor. For human use, if you were to make a pot pie, it would be good in place of shortening for the crust.
I mix some in with my dog’s regular food usually in the winter cause she is an outside dog. Nuke it first just to get it nice n juicy and she loves it. Maybe throw in some garlic if we have any. She has our back when she’s out there. We appreciate her looking out for us so it’s not a bad thing to give a treat but not too often though, I wonder how good or not it is for dogs.
@gottamakeart I feed my wild avian visitors every day, using melted beef dripping mixed with birdseed mostly millet mixed together and stored in a container out of the fridge goes too hard to spoon out otherwise. Birds adore it.
