I'm getting my parents their ringtone back and I need to know what kind of file to download it as.

Ok so on Fri. my mom tried to launder her phone (not a good idea!). so yesterday she got a new one and I’m trying to find her old ringtone and get it on her phone again. I found it, and I need to know what kind of file to download it as. The site is asking what brand of phone it is, and it’s just a Verizon phone. The choice of file is an Mp3 or AMR. Any ideas?

I think either an AMR or an Mp3 will work on Verizon.

Looks like this site would help you if you have a dilemma.

I think .wav files are ideal for cell phones, but if you can only choose between MP3 and AMR, I would probably go with mp3. If I remember correctly, Verizon phones should be able to use mp3 files as ringtones. But it may depend on the specific model phone you have.

If the ringtone on her old phone was on a memory card then there is a good chance that it can still be read in a card reader. Phone might not survive a dunking – it might be toast – but memory cards often can.

@DarkScribe That’s true, but often people use ringtones that are built in to the phones. I have had four Verizon phones over the years, and the only ringtone that they shared in common was the default (and lame-sounding) Verizon default ring. Perhaps that is not the case with @sarah826 ‘s mother’s phone, but sadly it often is.

Silly phones.
