What would be better for a PowerPoint presentation?
I have this presentation for art class and I’m stuck on what looks better for my PowerPoint presentation.
My presentation is about a “metaphorical” text called “Girls Are Like Waves”. I wanted to play a video with waves & surfers in it. I would ask them what can they see in the waves then I would tell them about the text and read the text out loud for them.
I’m just confused how to set up my presentation.
My ideas are…(What would be/look better?)
First option: I’m putting the video and text on one slide together, the video plays while I explain about the video and the text but they could read the text as the video plays.
Second option: Put the video first on one slide, let it play while i ask them the question and reading the text out loud for them. One th second slide I put the text and let them read it for themselves.
If you have any ideas how I can make this presentation looks better let me know

You could make it so that re viewers could interact with the presentation.
I like the second option, but I doubt that it’s necessary to put the slide that you read up.
@troubleinharlem How can I make it so that the reviewers could interact with the presentation?
Let me let you in on a secret: Text on a slide, read aloud verbatim is the most overdone, and boring thing EVER; Power point presentations are best with no text if you can get away with it, or minimal bullet points if necessary.
- Reminders for yourself are for notecards, not slides.
– Everyone can read, so why would you read to us?
– and if we’re going to read the slide for ourselves, why are you even there?
.
Relevant images and media are far more captivating, and often help listeners form memories and connections regarding your ideas and the important information more easily.
You want the audience to be engaged in the information you have to offer, not to zone out and stare blankly at the text behind/beside you.
If you feel some point is very important, in this case, maybe an example of metaphor or simile, then do copy and paste the entire line from the poem, or write exactly what you say outloud. Something as simple as…
* Waves: unpredicatble, everchanging, etc.
...is sufficient.
So, stick with the video and illustrative photos. Stay away from text.
Sorry, long passages or text you read aloud in a PPP is a huge pet-peeve
I’d go with second too.
You may also put a button to previous slide i.e. the video slide on the 2nd slide. You can find it in shapes.
Play the video two times if they like to. At first time, ask them to observe, go to 2nd slide and show them the text; if they haven’t noticed it or if they want to view it again, play it again.
The video and your words alone are great together and very engaging!
