I have an Olde English Bulldogge that I want to train to fetch. Any tips?

We have a little female pup. I taught her how to fetch.
#1.. I threw the stick.
#2.. I yelled “Ladybug” and slapped my lap after she got the stick.
Each dog is different. YMMV.
Get one of those rubber toys you can put a treat inside of.
Introduce it to the dog. Place it increasing distances from the dog (a knowledge of sit and stay commands will help here).
Eventually you can throw the toy. The dog will bring it back for another treat!
Eventually, you can only put a treat in ⅓ of the time. Then, never. However, your dog will remember the joy it took in fetching the toy/bone/whatever!
Tip: do not leave the fetch item in the dog’s possession during non-fetch periods.
Find something they love to run after and carry around. When they get it, call them. When they bring it back, reward them. Its that simple.
Throw stick or frisbeeeeeeeeee , dog chase it . Dog bring it back , if dog don’t bring it back call for the dog . Repeat you are now playing fetch
My key phrase has become “Want me to throw it?” It should’ve been “fetch” but that’s not how it worked out. A verbal cue, holding out your hand… It all should start making sense to the pup after a while.
Two people always helps. One to throw, and the other to physically show the dog what is expected. And, of course, praises and stuff afterward. (It doesn’t have to be a fattening treat. I used Cheerios!)
