I’ve always thought that everyone should have a wife. Including the wives.

I think it definitely helps, but it isn’t necessary.

Yes, except for the woman who was in love with a fence.

She had some THING to lean on.

Less troublesome and always there…even when peeling.

Of course.

I think most people do. Whether they want to admit it or not.

I think it’s wiser to have a safety net——but only use it if you are in danger of plunging to your death. Otherwise, stand on your own two feea.

I pretty much spent my whole life not leaning on anyone. I didn’t even realize that I had done it until I met my second (current and final) husband. It actually scared me when I found myself relying on him. It’s taken some time to get used to the idea. I can tell you this… life is better when you have someone to rely on.

@pdworkin really nailed it! I once had a ‘wife’, a man who stayed home, took care of the cleaning, cooking, laundry, etc. It was wonderful if he hadn’t also been a handful in other ways. I liked coming home and knowing things there were ‘handled’ to where the two of us could get on with just being together and relaxing. I made efforts to show my appreciation because I had been a wife before and knew how much work it was to run a household much less do it well and to my partner’s satisfaction and particular quirks.
