Trying to remember name of a children's book set in Japan?
I read a book about a young girl in Japan, who either is from or takes a trip to Kyoto to visit family. This was a book in English, which I read in the mid-1980s, and was probably the basis for my obsession with ramen, as the main character ate it all the time. I can’t remember the name, or any other plot details, other than it concerned travel in Japan. Definitely aimed at elementary children/young adult at most. I remember loving this book, help!

any more info of any kind?
i dont think i have any hope of finding this just off that.
did it have a moral to it or something that was not necessarially part of the plot?
like, why do you remember it? what do you want it for now, and could that help others find it.
EDIT:
if you cant remember the name, can you remember if it had any kanji on the cover, or the color of the book. paper back or hard back? anything.
If it was a comic book you might look at a series about Naruto Miyazaki. a young Ninja trainee who loves ramen. (of course Ramen is about like cheeseburgers here in the US) It has recently become available ar bookstores in english, but that has only been in the past couple of years.

His last Name is Uzumaki. And he is not a Girl though he can turn himself into one
It’s been a while. Don’t know where Miyazaki came from.
Hayao Miyazaki is one of Japan’s greatest animation directors. Maybe you’ve been reading the credits on anime too much.
Spirited away. We watched it last night. A super movie! Two thumbs up.
@poisonedantidote Sadly, I don’t remember a ton. I believe there was travel between Kyoto and Tokyo, a train ride figured prominently. Book had Mount Fuji on the cover, no kanji (this was completely in English) and I mostly just want to know what this book is for sentimental reasons. I believe the girl might have been visiting her grandmother. I know, this is is a long shot but thought, what the heck! So thank you for trying anyway! :)
