In terms of pain and suffering, what do you think would be the worst illness to get ever? The plague? Ebola? Cholera? HIV/AIDS? Cancer? Think of any type of illness. I’d just like to know which one people think is the most scary to die from and why.

Self inflicted loneliness, selfishness and dehydration from a runny nose.
My guess would be AIDS or cancer. Those seem pretty obvious.
flesh eating bacteria followed close by Ebola. Hard to beat bleeding from the eyes.
I agree with @filmfann – flesh eating anyyything. talk about a bad day…
@filmfann You’re not kidding. Reading The Hot Zone really freaked me out; I can’t think of many things scarier than Ebola.
It’s not physically painful, and it doesn’t kill you, but there’s something to be said for the horror of Alzheimer’s. Or really any degenerating nervous system condition. MS can be pretty rough.

Well, Alzheimer’s basically causes the body to shut down. Most people who acquire Alzheimer’s live no longer than 7–14 years after they first begin showing signs of the disease. My grandmother “died of Alzheimer’s” in January of this year. I can see why my boyfriend’s grandfather killed himself when he started to show signs of Alzheimer’s.
Having experience with Alzheimer’s makes me want to list it up there as one of the worst diseases to die from. From what I’ve seen about Ebola, that one is pretty awful in terms of pain and suffering.
My grandfather died of cancer. I saw him shrink into practically nothing in a matter of just a few months. He died a horrible painful death and it scares me to think that this monster illness runs in my family.
Hungtington’s disease.
(The inability to swallow would do it for me).
Something that takes a long time to kill you, so you can see it coming on, slowly but inevitably. I’d much prefer to die unexpectedly, in my sleep.
I think cholera sounds horrible. Exhaustive diarrhea sounds not so fun.
The Black Death. Very slow internal putrefaction while still alive, which strikes me as pretty agonizing. Also, one would die knowing that almost everyone around you would follow you to the grave, possibly through your infecting them.
