My boyfriend wants to wear these crazy contacts to inhance his halloween contume, but his eyes are sensitive(we reciently had to go to eye doctor to remove a piece of metal from his eye(second trip to doctor for second metal object in same eye) so he obviously has some understandable fear or psycological inbetted warriness of anything foreign in his eyes. He has also tried contacts a few years back, and needless to say, he is terrified. Besides trying to overcome his psycological fears of foreign objects in his eye, how does one become comfortable with wearing contacts when they have tried many times before and REALLY wants it to work out…? Is there some kind of semiquazi numming eye drops that are available and TEMPORARY?!???

No offense but it sounds kind of silly for him to be sticking anything into his eyes at all. Is he really that concerned about his costume?
He should not be wearing contacts if his eyes are sensitive. Those costume contacts are not (to my knowledge) sterile and are, therefore, unsafe. Don’t risk it.
@Facade
most costume contacts are FDA approved.
He shouldn’t try. If he’s psychologically freaked out, that’s not going to change.
Give it up.
@Facade Now if only they made them in Rx… “Blind”
Contacts of any kind are difficult for some people to get used to. He needs to talk to an optometrist about his issue.
Yeah, i guess that when he went to doctor for the thing in his eye they put some drops in that numbed temporarily; we were wondering if it was over the counter or if there was any other temporary(as in hourly/minute) releif… to calm the body defenses…I guess it is a lost cause
What is the Halloween costume? just curious
@Falkor As soon as they wear off there’s going to be the same problem.
Costume contacts tend to be less comfortable than regular. Also, they are not approved for sleeping in, so you risk infection, ulcers, etc if you sleep in them. I also heard recently from a optician that they really aren’t supposed to sell them to people without a prescription.
Yeah, this is probably a bad idea. I wear contacts and have never had a problem, and I know some people simply cannot put anything near their eyes, like my boyfriend. Anyways, he ordered the wrong color.
